  • Good Morning Monday ~ 2018 has started with a bang!

Yes, 2018 has hit the ground running, that’s for sure! This week alone:

    • I wrote 12K to finish the first draft of Evolved – release will be April
    • I received edits on Finders Keepers – release 2nd Feb
    • I edited Sense of Place and formatted for ebook and paperback (re-release is Jan 17th)
    • Release of the Italian translation of Spencer Cohen Book Three
    • Beta-read 75K story for a friend
    • Had The Weight of It All win Audio of the Year at Open Skye Reviews!
    • Had Imago win 2nd place as Book of the Year at Open Skye Reviews
    • And The Weight of It All was featured on AudioFile, where Joel won an Earphones Award for the incredible narration, and for a LGBT book – this is kind of HUGE!
    • Went through a tonne of admin stuff, including meetings with my accountant, organising blitz tours, ARC tours, and super exciting secret squirrel stuff.

I’m sure there is something else I’m forgetting… But as you can see, it’s been quite a week.

My time at My Fiction Nook as Author of the Month continues!  You can read my latest post HERE and you can enter the draw to win an ebook!

Yes, my current WIP is called Evolved, and should be out in April. It’s 60K long (unedited) and I will be spending this week going through it, fixing/tweaking/adding/deleting before sending it off to beta readers. I’ve kept details of this one close to my chest as it’s quite different, and I’ll wait until I hear back from my betas to see what they think.

I did buy a pre-made cover for this about six months ago, but it’s really not right for the story, so I have asked Reese Dante to conjure up some magic for me 🙂

Speaking of Reese Dante and incredibly awesome covers, I don’t believe I’ve shown you the cover for Sense of Place!

In keeping with the first two covers, this will be the forever cover for Sense of Place, and it’s perfect!

    And the paperback is GORGEOUS!!

I have the proof of the paperback and can’t wait to hit approve! The three covers together look stunning and I am SO happy to have these boys back under my creative control <3

For my Italian readers, Spencer Cohen Book Three is out now!

Also, in case you weren’t aware, you can also follow me on BookBub for any new deals or discounts, and hang out in my Readers’ Group on Facebook for all the latest news and gossip!

I’m hoping for another busy (read: productive) week. Lots to do and plan for my next book!  I have a pre-made cover for it, the location, and how it begins… now I just need the unimportant stuff like character names/histories, title, and plot LOL!

    Until then… <3

  • Good Morning Monday ~ My God, it’s almost December…

Can you believe it? The countdown to Christmas is on… *shudders*

Anywhooo, last week was another super busy week for me. Including being super sick yesterday, what I still managed to get done:

    • Wrote 14K on my WIP, now at 39K. Tentatively now titled Finders Keepers.
    • Signed a contract for Sixty Five Hours to be translated into Thai.
    • Completed two rounds of edits on On Davis Row (95K words x 2)
    • Sent out ARCs for On Davis Row

What I have to do this week:

    • Finish the first draft of Finders Keepers
    • Complete final proofing edits on On Davis Row
    • Give the final publishing draft of On Davis Row a polish before uploading into Amazon and hitting “Publish” for next Monday! Eeeeeek!!
    • Complete edits on the re-released version of Clarity of Lines (Thomas Elkin 2)

As you can see, things are just a little hectic 😉

I’m also taking part in some great Christmas giveaways! I’ll post more when it get’s closer, but there’s much fun to be had and many contests to be won! 🙂

In Audio news, Red Dirt Heart 3 won Best Audio of the Month at LoveBytes!

I’m so grateful to Joel Leslie for giving Charlie and Travis the perfect voice, and to RJ Scott who made me publishing this series in audio possible <3

    Also in audio news:

The Audio of The Weight Of It All is up for Best book/audio of October at SkyeBook Reviews!

If you’re inclined to vote, you can check it out HERE!

I’ve also signed up for a release blitz for On Davis Row. If you’re a blogger, you can find the details HERE!

Okay folks, that’s it for this week!  Next Monday is release day for On Davis Row! The first ARC reviews so come in have been incredible, so I hope my readers love Noah and CJ too!

  • Good Morning Monday! It’s an Imago kind of day…

    good-morning-monday-2-with-frame

I’ve been sitting on this cover FOREVER. I actually found the cover twelve months ago on a pre-made site and just had to have it. I had no story idea for it, but it was so striking, I just had to have it.

Then, in my travels across the US, I had a spark of inspiration at, of all places, an airport. Lord knows I spent enough time in them across the country LOL. All I knew was these two characters met at an airport and one of them had car rental issues and the other offers him a lift.

That was all I had. I let the story ferment in my head for a while and the characters grew. I was given names, descriptions, traits… then came their occupations. Lawson was a lepidopterist (butterfly specialist).

    And so Imago was born.

Maybe the cover I’d bought played in my subconscious. But whatever the reason, the story had to be written.

Jack and Lawson are simply the cutest couple ever!  Imago is 45K words long and I’ll be posting more on them in coming weeks, so stay tuned. But for now, the cover and blurb!

    imago-400x600

Isn’t it GORGEOUS???  Now you can see why I just HAD to have it.  Made by Harper By Design.

    Now for the blurb:

Nerdy, introverted genius lepidopterist, Lawson Gale, is an expert on butterflies. He finds himself in a small town in Tasmania on a quest from an old professor to find an elusive species that may or may not even exist.

Local Parks and Wildlife officer, Jack Brighton, is an ordinary guy who loves his life in the sleepy town of Scottsdale. Along with his Border collie dog, Rosemary, his job, and good friends, he has enough to keep from being lonely.

But then he meets Lawson, and he knows he’s met someone special. There’s more to catching butterflies, Jack realises. Sometimes the most elusive creatures wear bowties, and sometimes they can’t be caught at all.

Lawson soon learns there are butterflies he can’t learn about it in books. They exist only in a touch, in a kiss, in a smile. He just has to let go first, so these butterflies can fly.

Imago is the story of finding love, bowties, and butterflies.

    <3

Imago will be live on February 21st. There will be no presale links, unless I change my mind…

But there is a sequel. I’ve just started it (literally 1.8k words into it) and I’m hoping it will be out in April. At this point in time, I envisage only two books. That, however, is subject to change, depending on what the characters tell me. Lawson’s kind of stubborn, so anything is possible… 😉

In other news, The Weight Of It All has been voted THE BEST BOOK OF THE YEAR on Love Bytes!!!

    winner-badge

    *falls down dead*

I just cannot believe it. I’m so very thankful and honoured and humbled by all the readers who not only read and reviewed the book, but for those who nominated and voted. And of course, a huge thank you to Love Bytes for their tireless work and efforts in helping authors reach readers.

I receive a lot of emails and messages about my books. Anywhere from 2 to 10 a week. But Henry and Reed’s story far surpasses all other books people contact me about. People share with me their stories of courage and hope, in taking back control of their lives. Henry has touched more people than I ever could have imagined. When I wrote Henry’s story, I had no clue at the profound effect he would have on readers.

Just yesterday, when I posted that TWOIA had won Best Book of the Year, the wonderful Kat Juellyn posted this:

Oh my goodness gracious! I am so excited that “The Weight of it All” by N.r. Walker won Book of the Year at Love Bytes Same Sex Reviews!!! I can’t tell you how thrilled I am that this phenomenal book won. It was up against so many amazing books but this book is the one that affected me personally. It actually encouraged me that, even though I am mobility challenged and in need of several big surgeries more, I had to try and get some movement back in my life. I headed back to my home in Hawaii on the heels of reading and reviewing this book. And I did accomplish some of my goals. I landed there being dependent on an electric scooter. By the time I left I hadn’t touched it in weeks. Thank you N. R. AND Henry and Reed for your motivation. Do yourself a favor and give this fabulous book a chance, I can guarantee you will not be disappointed! Congratulations again N. R.! You totally deserve this honor.

But it’s this kind of response that makes me cry actual physical tears. There have been dozens like this post. Literally dozens. I can’t explain what it means to me. My heart is so full of warm and fuzzies. <3 It’s also the reason I still make myself go to CrossFit and be so sore I do my own walking Tin Man or T-Rex impersonations for days afterwards.

For anyone who hasn’t read TWOIA, it’s currently on sale at just 99c at Amazon.  But only for another day or two, so be quick!!

    love-bytes-book-of-the-year

So, that’s it for this week. I’m aiming to pump out some more words on the sequel to Imago this week, so I’ll be busy and not on social media much. I’d love to add 10K or more if I can. Fingers crossed.

    Until next week…

NYPD Detective Alec MacAidan has always been good with weird. After all, his life has been a string of the unexplainable. But when an injured man gives him cryptic clues, then turns to dust in front of him, Alec’s view on weird is changed forever.

Cronin, a vampire Elder, has spent the last thousand years waiting for Alec. He’d been told his fated one would be a man wielding a shield, but he didn’t expect him to be human, and he certainly didn’t expect that shield to be a police badge.

Both men, strong-willed and stubborn, are still learning how to cope with the push and pull of being fated, when fate throws them another curveball.

Rumors have spread quickly of turmoil in Egypt. Covens are fleeing with news of a vampire who has a talent like no other, hell-bent on unleashing the wrath of Death.

Alec and Cronin are thrown into a world of weird Alec cannot imagine. What he learned in school of ancient pharaohs and Egyptian gods was far from the truth. Instead, he finds out firsthand that history isn’t always what it seems.

Moving from a Texas ranch to an Australian Outback station was a life changing decision for Travis Craig. Though it wasn’t really a decision at all. Something in his bones told him to go, though he had no clue as to why.
Until he met Sutton Station’s owner, Charlie.
Loving Charlie shouldn’t have been easy. The man was stubborn, and riddled with crippling self-doubt. No, it shouldn’t have been easy at all. Yet somehow, falling in love with Charlie was the easiest thing in the world.
Loving him was easy. Living with him, teaching him how to love in return and, more importantly, how to love himself, was not.
But Travis knew all along it’d be worth it. He knew the man with the red dirt heart was destined to be his. Just like he knew the red dirt that surrounded him was where he was supposed to be.
In the final instalment of the Red Dirt Series, we see Charlie through Travis’ eyes. We see how much he’s grown and how much he loves. We go back to Texas with them, and we see Charlie get everything he truly thought he never deserved.
Red Dirt Heart 4 is Travis’ story.
And this is the story of not just one red dirt heart, but two.
