Autism Awareness Month! Childhood Memories, Blog Hop, and Giveaways!

Autism fact: Autism is not a disease.

It’s always a great honour for me to take part in RJ Scott’s Autism Awareness Blog Hop. And this year I took a trip down memory lane, waaaaaaay back to my childhood, and my favourite toys that I remember. I was never into anything overtly ‘girly’ (I’m still not LOL) and while my sisters would play dress-ups and cook and sew, I played with trucks, and explored the countryside with my cousins (who were all boys). We lived in a small country town, so I spent every spare minute outside, up trees, in gullies, making tree houses, and would only ever come home to eat.

I can set rabbit traps, skin rabbits, make bows and arrows from weeping willow trees, ride motorbikes, skateboards, and horses. I can’t sew, I hate cooking, and the only two dresses I own are my wedding dress and a bridesmaid dress.

But as a child, I don’t recall it ever being an issue. No one ever said (to me, anyway) that I couldn’t have something because it’s just for boys. I wasn’t bound by stereotypical gender roles. Maybe growing up in the 70s was different… I don’t know. But also as a child of the 70/80s, we didn’t have much of anything and the only time we ever received presents/gifts was on birthdays and at Christmas. It was also the only time we ever ate lollies and chips and fizzy drinks.

Different times, indeed.

Anyway, these are the toys I remember the most.

The Tomy Tuneyville Music Train was my first Christmas present ever, and it worked for years and years. I got the Tonka Truck for my second birthday – apparently it was all I wanted. The Family Tree House belonged to me and my sisters, so I can’t claim it as mine alone but I did enjoy playing with it. And as I got a bit older, I loved Lego. I had the entire “Moon Landscape” series and I LOVED it. I would use my dad’s pool table and make an entire moon and if I needed extra villains I’d use my sister’s Strawberry Shortcake dolls and the big purple guy with the cool/evil moustache (I think his name is Purple Pieman LOL) and my moon Lego heroes would use their mineral detectors and laser tractor beams to catch him.

Good times. (LOL! But clearly, my love for science fiction started at an early age….)

I hope you’ve enjoyed my little trip down memory lane. It’s been fun!

For the giveaway, I’d like to give one lucky reader the chance to win a $5 Amazon gift card. To enter, simply comment on this post and tell me what toy you remember from your childhood.

Also, if you haven’t checked out my latest release UPSIDE DOWN yet, you can find it at Amazon

NEW COVER REVEAL FOR SIXTY FIVE HOURS!!

I am so excited to share this…
I’ve shared this in my Facebook groups already, but now for you guys…
As you may know, I’ve had to remove all my paperbacks from Createspace and move them to IngramSpark (because Amazon is a mofo) but the cover I had done for Sixty Five Hours (in 2015) wouldn’t comply because Ingram is a lot harder to please lol.
Sooooo, I had to have the cover redone. This book has had its fair share of covers since 2011 (not all of them great) and I wanted to give Cameron and Luc the cover they deserve. And who else better to make a forever-cover than that amazing Reese Dante
And it’s absolutely perfect!!
Things to know:
⭐️ There is NO new content (from the 2015 version)
⭐️ The ebook will stay FREE – new cover to be uploaded at all sites asap!
⭐️ Paperbacks will be available soon! And they are priced as low as I can possibly make them
⭐️ I have two signings coming up and if you’ve pre-ordered the Sixty Five Hours paperback, it will be the NEW cover – unless you t
ell me you want the old one.
⭐️ I’m so in love with this, you have no idea omg. I will post the wrap cover in the comments because it’s SO freaking awesome!

The new covers should start appearing in the next few days!

CRONIN’S KEY IV – KENNARD’S STORY

Kennard’s Story is out this week!! OMG I’m so excited!!  It was so great to spend time with these guys again – I will post buy links asap!!  Also, ARCs will be going out today or tomorrow… whenever I can get them done!

Other news…

My WIP is now complete. Upside Down is now 66K words and I’ll be sending it out to beta readers this week! Eeeeek!!

What’s next is undecided… whether it’s the angsty addiction characters, or the angel/devil comedy, I can’t decide. They’re still competing for centre stage in my head.  It will more than likely be the angsty one…

My 2019 schedule (subject to change) now looks like this:

Jan 28th – Kennard’s Story

Late March – Upside Down

Late May – Angsty addiction story

Late June – Angel/devil story

Late August – beginning of a cop/cold case trilogy to be released up until Christmas or something like that, idk.

Okay, that’s it for this week. I’ll be back next week with the buy links for Kennard’s Story!!  Eeeeeek! So excited!!!

Until then….  ❤

Good Morning Monday! Who Wants Christmas Freebies?

It’s the time of year to be Merry, and what better way to spread some holiday cheer than to give ebooks away! I love giving stuff away, it makes me happy. I’m not even kidding. And, it makes me even happier to give stuff away if I don’t have to leave my house! LOL  Giving people ebooks is a win/win for everyone!

There’s a bunch of awesome authors who have put up some Holiday stories on Prolific (it used to be Instafreebie) and you can grab them ALL if you wish! Click on the link below and take a peek!

LGBTQ HOLIDAY ROMANCE READS

My free story included in this is my 2014 Christmas freebie called Twelfth of Never (Blind Faith 3.5). So if you haven’t grabbed it, now is your chance!

You might remember last week I posted about the HUGE giveaway with 19 prizes? Well, it ended yesterday and all winners have been notified. I already have the first pile of parcels ready for my trip to the post office tomorrow 🙂

Thank you to everyone who entered and played along! ❤

My new WIP is at 21K words and coming along nicely!  I’m thinking it might be 50K all up and will be released late Feb/early March.  I have no title yet and I’m still working on final cover ideas. But these boys are so sweet together, and one character does that nervous rambling thing like Henry from The Weight Of It All does. He’s so funny! Their names are Jordan and Hennessy, it’s based in Sydney, and although there are some laughs and awkward hilarity, there is a message in this book as well.  It’s a very personal book for me and I’m super proud to be in a position where I can give these boys a voice.

Here’s some character art I made for them…

As we’re wrapping up 2018, I will try and have some kind of tentative schedule for 2019 releases and signings written up soon. And I’ll also have a cover reveal maybe next week as a little extra Christmas pressie for you all!

My kids are finishing school this week (well, my daughter has already finished, my son has two more days). It’s a six week summer break, so spare a thought for my sanity! LOL Maybe we should start taking bets to see how many days I hide in the library for…  😉

I will also have my inlaws arrive mid week to stay for a week over Christmas. Lawd, give me strength, wine, chocolate, whatever it takes!! haha

I’m aiming for another 10K word week on my WIP which might be a tall order considering kids and inlaws, but here’s to hoping!

Until then…

Good Morning Monday ~ And a HUGE Giveaway!

You can check it out on my Facebook Author Page link HERE

You can find the Rafflecopter link HERE

Or you can go directly to the Rafflecopter page HERE

It’s a HUGE giveaway, and lots of fun! Please note that Australia Post has ceased all shipping to Canada at this current time (until their strike is over and the backlog is cleared) so if any of my Canadian friends win, I’ll definitely post it out when I can! 🙂

Due to request, I’ve also added my 2019 Calendars to my Signed Paperback Form. They’re $8.00 each, and a shipping guide is:

Australia: $2.50 and Overseas $8.00.  These are AUD figures, so this equates to $11.50US for calendar and shipping combined.

Calendar laying flat on top of other calendars

In other news, I’ll be sending Kennard’s Story off to my editor this week! I’m still hopeful for an early February release, but that is subject to a whole bunch of things.

And I’m 10K into my next story which is SO much fun right now. It’s still untitled and I’m reluctant to say much more should I jinx myself LOL.  I have NO clue how long it will be. One MC is a nervous rambler (a bit like Henry from The Weight Of It All)  so the finished word count will depend on how much stage time this guy can steal 😉

I’m still working on my 2019 schedule. I can say roughly I’d like to release 6 novels (one every two months) but that depends on a myriad of factors (planets aligning, wind direction, kids’ school and sporting commitments, and other real life factors, that kind of thing) but I’m hoping to get/give some vague direction of where I’m heading. I always say that schedules help me focus and choose my path, but in all honesty, it’s usually shot to shit by February LOL

Okay folks, until next week!!

Good Morning Monday! And a Cover Reveal!

Hello Monday!! You guys know I love Monday’s right? They’re my favourite day of the week; after a loud and busy weekend, my hubs goes to work and my kids go to school, and my house is back to blessed silence. I do try and set weekly goals for work stuff, but they don’t always pan out. Last week, I didn’t get the word count I would have liked but I did get some editing done and other admin type stuff so it wasn’t a complete loss.

My WIP word count is now at 53K and it’s going okay. I have some pacing concerns which I’ll probably need to address but I want to get the first draft finished before I worry about that. I’m thinking there’s maybe 20K to go? Not sure. Patrick and Aubrey are all kinds of lovely and I can’t wait for you folks to meet them!

Now, for that cover reveal…

Three’s Company has been out for years. For six years, to be exact. I get the rights back from the publisher on March 21st and as I’ll be self publishing it, it will go live again asap. I really enjoyed revisiting Wil, Adam, and Simon while re-doing edits. I’d forgotten how much I loved them.

So the story is unchanged from its 2015 edition, though it has been re-edited and it has a gorgeous new cover. Reese Dante did the original 2012 cover and I loved it, so I asked her to recreate it, and she did! And as you can see, it’s awesome!

The blurb has been tweaked a bit too!

When he started looking for someone to help heal his broken heart, Wilson Curtis never dreamed he’d find two someones.

After Wilson Curtis was publicly outed, his restaurant business left in tatters, and dumped by his closeted boyfriend, he goes to Key West alone. There he meets Simon Stanford and Adam Preston. Fascinated by this couple, he is soon invited into their bed for some holiday fun.

But once isn’t enough, and the offer is extended for the remainder of his stay. As they get to know each other, in and out of the bedroom, sparks fly, and ten days is all it takes to change their lives.

When it comes time for Wil to leave, with tensions closing in and time running out, tempers flare and emotions fray. Beneath the physical attraction and the foolish misunderstandings is the realization these three men aren’t ready to say goodbye.

Wil soon learns that love isn’t always conventional, and the only thing better than giving your heart to one man, is giving it to two.

I’ll have the buy links up as soon as I can!

Along with all my other books, I’ve now added my Blind Faith series back into KU, while taking On Davis Row out. It’s good to keep cycling books around to give everyone a chance to read.

You can find Blind Faith on Amazon/Kindle Unlimited.

You can find On Davis Row at

Christmas Story Cover Reveal & Giveaway!

HERE IT IS!!!!!!

I’ve kept this secret for so long, it’s almost killed me!  But it’s finally here. My 2015 Christmas story cover for the world to see!!  (I’m so excited it’s ridiculous)

ReddirtheartChristmas1500

That’s right, folks. We’re off to the Outback for Christmas this year!!  I can’t tell you how much I loved visiting these boys again.  I found the cover images and sent them to the fabulous Sara York and almost cried when I saw how gorgeous the cover turned out. It suits the series PERFECTLY.

Now you know why every part of the cover had to be a secret! If I showed just one corner, or gave any hints, ya’ll would have guessed it straight away!

Okay, so the story details are:

It’s 14,500 word story, told in Charlie’s pov.  It will be .99c and available at all retail sites from December 11th. (Please know that B&N and Apple take longer than others) but I will post the pre-order links ASAP.

GIVEAWAY:

Leave a comment here and tell me your best Christmas memory. Enter the draw for a copy of Red Dirt Christmas. The giveaway closes on 11th December at 9am EST.

BLURB:

Travis had been here at Sutton Station for just over a year. We were technically engaged, not that we’d told anyone. He was happy just knowin’  I’d said yes, and I had some head-clearin’ stuff to work through. Knowing I was good enough for Trav was one thing, but knowing if I was good enough to be a husband and father was somethin’ else entirely.

Life at Sutton Station had never been better. Business was strong, Trudy and Bacon’s little baby, Gracie, was a few weeks old now and as cute as a button, Ma’s health was good, and my relationship with Laura and Sam was in a pretty good place. And Travis? Well, life with him was still all kinds of perfect.

But, to Travis’s dismay, Christmas at the Station was just another day. Another day of getting up before the sun, feeding animals, fixin’ what needed fixin’, and checking water troughs all while tryin’ to keep out of the blistering heat.

And this year weren’t much different. Only that it was Travis’s first Sutton Station Christmas. The fact we didn’t go all out with decorations and celebrations baffled him, and if I was bein’ truthful, it disappointed him too.

Which was why I had to make it a special kind of Christmas…

There are also some author notes at the beginning of the story, which I will post here for a heads up.

NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR:

This book uses Australian English spelling and grammar. There will be words like brumbies (wild horses) Macca’s (McDonald’s) and a serious lack of g’s on most ing words. There are also run-on hyphenated sentences. It’s just how Charlie speaks.

TIMELINE ACKNOWLEDGMENT:

Anyone familiar with the Red Dirt Heart series, will know it spans the seasons. In RDH1 when Travis arrives, it’s summer, RDH2 is autumn/winter, RDH3 is spring and RDH4, being Trav’s pov, is back to summer and spans another year. Christmas in Australia is in summer, so according to the actual timeline of the series, Travis’ first Christmas falls between RDH3 and RDH4, though it is not mentioned.

So, like a small snippet of something that didn’t technically happen, this Christmas story is of Travis’ first Christmas at Sutton Station, therefore falls between books 3 and 4. They’re not married, there’s no Milly.

A small reminder of where the storyline was up to… Travis has asked Charlie to marry him, but they’ve not told anyone yet. Trudy and Bacon have just had their first baby, Gracie, and Nugget still steals every scene he’s in.

Enjoy.

Stay tuned for the pre-order links.

Book #1 Frankie & Al

Book #2 Ed & Marchant

Book #3 Anthony & Leo

Book #4 Jordan & Rhys

Eight months after the assault in which his sub and lover was killed, Jordan Nicholls isn’t making much progress in his recovery. Marchant and Ed, Jordan’s friends from the BDSM club, stage an intervention.

They employ a carer to look after Jordan. Rhys may be a sub, but he’s forceful, making Jordan eat and exercise rather than live on coffee and cigarettes. Despite Jordan’s protests, Rhys slowly forces him back to life.

But Rhys wants to be Jordan’s sub, and despite being protective of Rhys, Jordan’s not sure he can ever return to the BDSM lifestyle. In order for their relationship to continue, they’ll need to find a compromise that meets both their needs.A Novella in Frankie’s Series

Excerpt:

Chapter 1

Eight months later

JORDAN SAT alone at the end of the bar, nursing a Coke and pretending not to notice his best friend, Tony, who was pushed up against the wall, his hands pressed flat against rough plaster as Leo kissed him.

“Wishing it was you?” Marchant Belarus sat on the stool next to Jordan. He was the owner of the BDSM club and too fucking perceptive. There was nothing he didn’t see or interfere in when it came to his club.

Jordan couldn’t take his gaze away from the couple, watching with a sad envy that didn’t come naturally to him. “Leo’s not my type.”

His lame attempt at a joke fell flat when Marchant didn’t chuckle.

“I never thought he’d be Tony’s, but look at them now.”

Finally Tony had a Dom of his own, and he exuded happiness. Despite the fact that Leo was younger and shorter than Tony, it was clear who was dominant in their relationship. For the first time, Jordan saw Tony, watched how beautifully he submitted—and Jordan was too late.

“Tony waited for years for you to notice him,” Marchant said quietly.

“You think I didn’t know that? I just thought…. Leo’s better for him than I am.” Jordan turned his head as Tony sank to his knees. The couple weren’t bothered by an audience. They never seemed to notice anyone else when they were in a scene. Jordan gave Marchant a wan smile. “What do you want? Apart from reminding me what I’ve lost.”

“Ed’s worried about you. He sent me to talk to you.”

“I’m fine.” Jordan gritted his teeth as Marchant raised an eyebrow. Could you raise a derisive eyebrow? Marchant possessed eyebrows that conducted whole conversations, particularly when he thought someone was being an arse. “It’s taking time.”

Marchant patted his back, not requiring more explanation. It had been eight months since Jordan had been badly injured in an assault in which his sub, Mike, had been killed. Jordan was still recovering from the physical injuries, and the mental trauma was like a scar to his soul. Once outgoing and gregarious, now Jordan shuffled through the day, feeling like he was wrapped in layers of gray wool that muffled him from the outside world. Marchant’s sub, Ed, had once told Jordan that he breathed for the first time the day he met Marchant. Jordan had stopped breathing the day three drunk thugs used their fists to tear his world apart.

Jordan swallowed hard at the memory, and then he noticed Marchant had put his arm around him and Tony was pressed against him, also holding him. Solid walls of men hemmed him in, made him feel safe.

“What?”

Tony gently swiped a tear from Jordan’s face. Jordan hadn’t even realized he was crying, but his nose was blocked and his throat tight. He rested his head on Tony’s chest and let the tears flow.

Finally he raised his head, suddenly feeling claustrophobic. “Shit, I’m sorry, Tony. You—”

“Shut up.” Tony hugged him even tighter.

“Get off.” Jordan tried to bat them away. “Christ, you’re going to suffocate me.”

They stepped back, to his relief, but they didn’t leave his side—which was also a relief, even if he’d never admit it.

“Why don’t you go upstairs for a while?” Marchant said. “Ed’s working, and the place is empty.”

Jordan pushed back his hair, grimacing at the greasy feel. He’d let himself go recently, finding even washing his hair was a battle. His arm had taken a long time to heal, and he struggled with even basic motor skills.

“I’ll go home before I make a bigger idiot of myself.” He loved his friends, but suddenly their concern was too much. It pressed down on him, and he needed to get away.

“I’ll run you home,” Tony said, looking over to Leo to check if it was all right.

“It’s okay, I can get the bus.” Jordan hadn’t been able to drive since the assault. A blow to the head had left him with intermittent seizures in the early stages, and he was banned from driving for a year.

“I’ll drive Mr. Jordan home.”

Jordan turned to look at the unknown speaker. He was young and slim, maybe Leo’s age, maybe younger, with a shock of dark hair that looked as if he’d stuck his finger in an electrical socket.

“Thanks, but I’m okay.”

“Sorted,” Marchant said with satisfaction. “Jordan, this is Rhys. He’s new to the club. Thank you, Rhys.”
