  • Good Morning Monday ~ Quick Update on All The Things

It’s been a few weeks, sorry. Truth is I haven’t had much to report. Life’s been crazy-busy and there hasn’t been much book-wise to talk about.

My daughter graduates high school this week. Her official last day is Wednesday, then we have two weeks of school holidays, then she will have her final Higher School Certificate exams over the course of October. Yes, exams go for 3-4 weeks here. BUT she has been offered an early-acceptance into university for next year, so her stress levels aren’t anywhere near as high as they could have been. Thank GAWD! She’s been offered a double degree in Law and International Studies at her first choice uni, so she’s stoked. We always said she should be a lawyer because honestly, she was born arguing LOL

And then my son begins his final year of school as well, and I honestly can’t wait for school to be over. I get asked a lot of I’m sad that my kids are finishing school but seriously no… I am cheering! I need this part of our lives to be over. After 13 years it’s time to move on.

    Okay, onto the book stuff…

First of all, I want to express my relief that my latest manuscript (more info below) is with my editor (I should have edits this week, hopefully) and I’ve started my Christmas book! I normally don’t do Christmas but I really feeling it this year. I think I needed to write something sweet and fluffy and this book surely delivers. I think after this year, we could all use some sweet and fluffy romance 🙂  It’s currently at 25k words and should be around 40K all up. The two MCs are Ren and Hamish and I just love them to bits.

OMG Throwing Hearts is FINALLY on Audible.

    F I N A L L Y

This audio was first submitted to ACX/Audible back in MAY!  Yes, May of this year. That’s how long this argument with ACX has been going on. I was at the point where I was ready to pull the submission and just have it never listed on Audible. And just to explain what kind of nightmare it’s been (and what a shitshow ACX is right now) I received another email just yesterday saying they were declining to approve it AGAIN and then a few hours later, BAM! It magically appears on Audible. They are a hot freaking mess right now.

    But it is THERE!!!

    COMING SOOOOOOOON!!

The fantasy book I whinged about writing has a name! LOL  Lacuna should be out late October. I don’t have the proper blurb yet so I’ll share that asap. Aaaand as much as it almost killed me to write this book, I’m thinking there will be a second book! Don’t worry, Lacuna has a beginning, middle and end, and honestly, if book 2 never gets written, no one will be mad. But these characters are still a little bit chatty. I’ve had to put them on hold to write my Christmas book but we’ll see if they still want to chat after that…

I don’t want to give too much away just yet. But I’ve wanted to write this book for years and I worry that I haven’t done it justice. I guess we’ll have wait and see. I will release the cover and blurb at the same time. Hopefully next week!!

Just a reminder that if you’re on Facebook, you can join in the shenanigans in my readers’ group! There are always giveaways and sneak peeks of what I’m writing and I do share my covers in there first.

Much love, guys. Stay safe in this crazy world. 💙💙

A fun and sexy romance where the kiln isn’t the only thing that’s scorching hot.

Leo and Clyde have been buddies for a few years now, and signing up for a pottery class seems like fun.
Merrick Bowman has been so focused on getting his pottery business up and running that he’s forgotten how to date. How to live, even. But when a young, bubbly Leo and an older, grumpy Clyde walk through his door, Merrick has no idea how much Leo is about to centre his world.
Throwing clay has been Merrick’s entire life, but Leo’s about to change all that. Maybe Merrick’s ready to throw caution to the wind. And maybe he’s ready to finally throw his heart on the line.

  • Good Morning Monday ~ Throwing Hearts excerpt!

It’s release week for Throwing Hearts!!  I’m super excited for the world to meet Leo and Merrick this coming Sunday. They’re adorably cute and fun, a little bit sexy, and super sweet. Kinda just what the world needs right now 😉

The paperback should go live on release day as well, and I’ve sent the file to Glen Lloyd for narration of the audiobook!!  So things are moving right along. And the paperback cover is sooo cute!  Huge thanks to SJ York for helping make it so perfect!  Look at this prettiness…

And as promised, an excerpt…  In this scene, Leo is telling his flatmate (and bestie, Kell) all about the cute pottery teacher, Merrick, and what he could find out about him on social media…

    ~

“Don’t make me wait, Leo,” she said. “I need all the details.”

“Well, he’s not married, and from what I can tell, he is single. There’s no Grindr profile, which is a relief. No photos of him with another guy, no holiday snaps, and his Instagram is all about his pottery studio. He’s been tagged in a few photos and seems to have a really cool group of friends. There’s even a few family photos, and no crazy cult mentions, either.”

“So basically you’re saying that he is single and perfect.”

    “Pretty much, yep.”

Kell laughed. “So, show me the pics.” She nodded toward my phone.

I went straight to Instagram and found his profile. “Oh, he’s so cute!” She said. “Gotta love a guy who can put a rainbow flag in his profile.”

    “I know, right?”

She scrolled some more. “Did he make these?” They were two large, round ceramic bowls with some kind of crazy glaze. They were refined, minimalist but earthy, and they looked incredibly expensive.

“I think so. Pretty sure he only tags and watermarks his own stuff.”

    “Holy shit, he’s clever.”

    “Uh . . .  Holy shit he’s gorgeous.”

    Kell laughed. “That too.”

She scrolled down some more until she came to a photo of six friends at a table in a restaurant somewhere. There were empty plates and wine bottles on the table. They were all laughing, and Merrick had captioned it with “love these people.” There were a few hashtags of friends and best friends, and they looked close and extremely happy.

Kell continued to scroll down through his posts until they found what looked like the grand opening of the studio. That was four years ago, and there was one photograph of Merrick inside his studio sitting at that long table, and he was laughing at something. It was a candid shot and strikingly beautiful. “Oh wow,” Kell said.

And then she did the most horrifying thing anyone could ever do.

    She accidentally double-tapped.

She looked at me, aghast. “Oops.”

Holy flying shit balls. “What did you do?”

“I didn’t mean to!” She squeaked and handed me back my phone like it was on fire. “Oh, Leo. I’m so sorry. So, so sorry.”

I could literally feel the blood run from my face. She’d just double-tapped. On his photo. She had just liked his photo from four years ago, on my profile! He was going to get a notification that basically proved I’d been stalking him. “Oh, this is bad. This is so bad.”

“Maybe he doesn’t check his notifications.” She looked stricken. She pulled a couch cushion onto her lap and clung to it. “Maybe he doesn’t use his Instagram much. Check when he posted his last photo; then see how often he posts at all. He might not ever know. He might not even know it’s you.”

“My profile picture is my face, with my name, and that I’m part of the Bridge-the-Gap program is in my bio.”

“Oh God, Leo. I’m so sorry.” Her face lit up then with an obvious idea. “Ooh, we can change your profile picture and your bio. Here, give me your phone. He’ll never have to know.”

“Or I could just move to Peru and become a llama farmer,” I replied, not really joking. How was I going to face him on Friday? “Or maybe I can donate my body for organ harvesting a little sooner than expected.”

    “Ooh, dibs on your liver.”

    “Bitch, I need that.”

Kell laughed. “Well, llama farming could be fun.”

“I’ll have to tell Clyde we’re going to swimming instead of ceramics. If he ends up drowning Shirley, then I’ll go to prison as an accessory which, to be quite frank, is preferable to facing Merrick on Friday morning.”

Kell made a pained face. “I’ll bake you cakes with nail files in them. I promise. If you go to jail, that is.”

I patted her on the knee. “Thanks.”

“It’s probably the least I could do.”

    ~

    They’re all so much fun!!!

  • Good Morning Monday ~ Throwing Hearts Blurb and Release Date

March is here already!! I cannot believe how fast that came around. And what better to celebrate March than with a new release! I can’t wait for everyone to meet Merrick and Leo. Their story is fun, sweet and sexy, and it’s a swoony romance. I think the world could do with some cavity-inducing sweetness and heart-eyes romance right now, and I’m super excited for everyone to meet these two.

  • Good Morning Monday ~ Cover Reveal of Throwing Hearts!

February is already cruising along nicely! And I’m very happy to say we’ve finally had some decent rain where I live. We’ve been in a severe drought for years but we have had actual RAIN!  The sound of it on my roof makes me happy! 🙂

Anyway, getting to the good stuff…

    Cover reveal time!!

I don’t have the edited blurb yet so I’ll save that for later, but for now, the cutest cover!  I made this cover haha but will need a professional to do the full wrap for me because I don’t have the skills for that. LOL  But Throwing Hearts is a 55K word story of fluff and love and ceramics, and this cover really captures that.  It kind of reminds me of my book Finders Keepers, in that it’s a sweet and sexy romance, with no conflict, no angst.  And I’m not gonna lie, it’s exactly what I need in my life right now.

I’m hoping the release date will be late Feb (approx the 28th) but that will depend on a few real-life things.

    WIP Update:

Current word count is 12K words, which I’m very happy with. I’m still hoping this will be a trilogy with each book being about 40K, but we’ll see how they play along when I get to the end of the first book. If it doesn’t have a proper ending, I may have to combine the three into one book. For me, each book – whether it’s in a series or not – must have a beginning, a middle, and an end. My Thomas and Spencer books each split into a trilogy perfectly, but Yanni didn’t. Yanni’s Story was supposed to be three separate books (to match Spencer) but the story didn’t pan out like that. Sure, the book has three parts, but “part one” does not make a “book one” if it doesn’t have a complete arc. At least in my eyes.

LOL  Anywhooooo, I won’t know how this new book will go until I get to the end…

Hoping for another 10-12K words this week…

    Until then.
