Cronin's Key

  • Free Christmas Book and a 2021 recap!

It’s been a helluva year, right?  It’s gone past in a mix of slow and a blur, and while I’m reluctant to wish time away, I’m really glad this year is done.

I’ve been terribly slack with updates but the truth is there isn’t much to update. I’m desperately trying to finish my WIP which is already two months behind schedule. At this point, it will not be released until February 🙁

But it’s not all doom and gloom LOL

I have a freebie for you!

A Soldier’s Wish is FREEEEE for five days!!  I loved writing this book. It kinda flew under the radar and I’d love for people to take a chance with it. If you loved Dearest Milton James, you’ll love this. There are letters between these two men when one goes off to war, and a HEA guaranteed!

From the 20th December to the 24th, A Soldier’s Wish is FREE!  This promotion is run on Amazon time (PST) , not Australia time, so please keep this in mind. *mwah*

    Blurb:

The year is 1969… Gary Fairchild is proud to be a hippie college student, and he protests the Vietnam War because he believes in love and peace. To him, it isn’t just a counterculture movement—it’s a way of life. When tickets to the Aquarium Exposition—3 Days of Peace & Music, or Woodstock, as it was better known, go on sale, there’s no way he isn’t going.

Richard Ronsman is a sheltered farm boy who lives in the shadow of his overbearing father. He’s hidden his darkest secret to earn his father’s love, but nothing is ever good enough—not even volunteering for the Vietnam War. And with just a few days left before he’s deployed, he’s invited by a striking hippie to join him at a music festival.

Three days of music, drugs, rain, mud, and love forged a bond between these two very different men that would shape the rest of their lives. They share dreams and fears, and when Richard is shipped off to war, they share letters and love. For Richard’s first Christmas home, he is gifted a special angel ornament that just might make a soldier’s wish come true.

    And a recap of 2021…

When I was putting these graphics together, I was honestly surprised by just how much

I’d accomplished this year. I felt like I was paddling like crazy all year and getting nowhere, so it’s good to see some actual progress.

I have really appreciated everyone’s words of encouragement and your love and support has really helped, more than you can know.

I hope everyone has a fabulous holiday and festive season! Please stay safe and healthy and we’ll all be back for an even better 2022!

    Much, much love…

    xx

  • Good Morning Monday ~ Cronin’s Key IV Release Day!!!!

Yay for release days!!! They’re both exhilarating and horrifying, nerve-wracking and awesome all rolled into one! But there’s also a huge amount of relief that comes with every release day. Think of it as making a kite… you spend months building it, honing it, refining it, only to launch it into the air to see if it flies.

That’s what releasing a book is like. Especially the fourth book in a series that my poor readers have waited an eternity for. LOL See the thing is, Cronin’s Key ended at three books. Alec and Cronin stopped talking to me and all went quiet in the Cronin world… until Stas and Kennard finally came up for air LOL.

So, what you need to know about Cronin’s Key IV – Kennard’s Story…

    • It is not a standalone. If you haven’t read the first three books, book four won’t make a great deal of sense.
    • It will be in Kindle Unlimited for the first three months.
    • It is 36.6k words – approx half that of the other books.
    • Like all the Cronin books, it’s a crazy ride from start to finish. Actually, it’s probably crazier than the others. LOL
    • Kennard and Stas are just the cutest couple ever!

    Universal Amazon Link

Cronin’s Key (book one) will be 99c for release week of Book IV so if you want to delve into Cronin’s world, now is your chance!

In other news, Upside Down is in the very capable hands of my editor. It ended up being 66K words and my beta-readers loved it! Which is always such a relief!

I love these characters and their story so much! It’s very close to my heart and I can’t wait to share it with the world!

In WIP news…  I have started my next book! OMG I know, right? No rest for the wicked. LOL  I’d spent the week doing research and adding bits and pieces of info to my doc with links and some plot points etc, only to have Word and Mac both decide to make me cry and wipe the doc clean…

Yes, I have back-up procedures in place. No, they didn’t work.  I did manage to salvage some of it which is better than nothing. But onwards and upwards, and I shall trudge on. LOL   I have a working title but I don’t want to jinx anything but I can say that it will be angsty and it’s a friends to lovers story. I’m getting Sam and Iz vibes from Switched with this one, and I’m thinking it will be around 60K but I usually do go over my original estimates 🙂

My kids go back to school at the end of this week!  Not gonna lie, the 6:30am starts are gonna suck but getting our routine back will be fab. And my blissfully quiet house for six hours every day will be heaven on freaking earth!

    Until next week! <3

Are you ready for some excited rainbow vomit?? LOL  Because I also have FOUR books up for voting for BOOK OF 2018 at Love Bytes – yes, four!!

You can check that poll out HERE if you’re so inclined to vote. You can choose as many as you like, but you can only vote once <3

NEW COVER REVEAL FOR SIXTY FIVE HOURS!!

I am so excited to share this…
I’ve shared this in my Facebook groups already, but now for you guys…
As you may know, I’ve had to remove all my paperbacks from Createspace and move them to IngramSpark (because Amazon is a mofo) but the cover I had done for Sixty Five Hours (in 2015) wouldn’t comply because Ingram is a lot harder to please lol.
Sooooo, I had to have the cover redone. This book has had its fair share of covers since 2011 (not all of them great) and I wanted to give Cameron and Luc the cover they deserve. And who else better to make a forever-cover than that amazing Reese Dante
    And it’s absolutely perfect!!
    Things to know:
⭐️ There is NO new content (from the 2015 version)
⭐️ The ebook will stay FREE – new cover to be uploaded at all sites asap!
⭐️ Paperbacks will be available soon! And they are priced as low as I can possibly make them
⭐️ I have two signings coming up and if you’ve pre-ordered the Sixty Five Hours paperback, it will be the NEW cover – unless you t
ell me you want the old one.
⭐️ I’m so in love with this, you have no idea omg. I will post the wrap cover in the comments because it’s SO freaking awesome!

The new covers should start appearing in the next few days!

    CRONIN’S KEY IV – KENNARD’S STORY

Kennard’s Story is out this week!! OMG I’m so excited!!  It was so great to spend time with these guys again – I will post buy links asap!!  Also, ARCs will be going out today or tomorrow… whenever I can get them done!

    Other news…

My WIP is now complete. Upside Down is now 66K words and I’ll be sending it out to beta readers this week! Eeeeek!!

What’s next is undecided… whether it’s the angsty addiction characters, or the angel/devil comedy, I can’t decide. They’re still competing for centre stage in my head.  It will more than likely be the angsty one…

My 2019 schedule (subject to change) now looks like this:

    Jan 28th – Kennard’s Story

    Late March – Upside Down

Late May – Angsty addiction story

    Late June – Angel/devil story

Late August – beginning of a cop/cold case trilogy to be released up until Christmas or something like that, idk.

Okay, that’s it for this week. I’ll be back next week with the buy links for Kennard’s Story!!  Eeeeeek! So excited!!!

    Until then….  <3

  • Good Morning Monday ~ Farewell 2018, Helloooooo 2019!!!

A bargain, a cover reveal, and a bit of a schedule – Oh my!

Okay first up, the bargain sale!!  Private Charter is now just 99c for a short time only!  That’s 65,000 words for just a buck! It’s hot, it’s steamy, and you’ll never look at a bottle of tequila the same again 😉

    Available at all major retailers!!

    Amazon
    Apple
    B&N
    Smashwords

    Now for the cover reveal!!

I know everyone has waited long enough for this book, so without further ado, here it is!!  Release date: January 28th. Cover by SJ York.

    Blurb:

Kennard and Stas have been enjoying being newly bonded mates, hidden away for the last six months in Stas’ cabin, deep in the forests of Northern Russia. When they get a visit from Alec, Cronin, Eiji, and Jodis, Kennard and Stas decide to return to London where they get news of a supernatural disturbance in India.

Excited for a new adventure, the band of friends embark on a journey like they’ve never seen before. Following a trail of snakes and serpents, they slip through gates into timeless dimensions all over the world, leaving them without their vampire powers. Even Alec is powerless as they follow a trail of gates and doorways to their final destination.

But the bad guy isn’t who they think it is, and Kennard will need to draw on his past to save their future. Because history is never what it seems…

    <3

I can’t wait for you guys to read this. It’s 35,000 words of crazy, but it was SO much fun to spend some time with these crowd again. I hope it was all the wait!!

2018 was a very busy year!

And 2019 shows no signs of slowing down… what I can tell you right now is I will be aiming to have a new release every 8 weeks, starting  with January 28th – Cronin’s Key IV ~Kennard’s Story.  The next will be late March – Current WIP (still untitled) contemporary romance, then the next would be late May, then late July etc.

I have 9 audios planned this year already. They include The Blind Faith series (March-April), Thomas Elkin series (Feb-April), Private Charter (June), Galaxies and Oceans (July), and Kennard’s Story.  **Please note dates are tentative and subject to change. I would LOVE to get Nova Praetorian into Audio but that one’s up in the air at the moment. It would be almost 19 hours long and that’s crazy expensive to produce as a self publisher.

I also have two book signings so far. Local ones, which will be a nice change 🙂  They are 23rd Feb in Sydney for Books By the Bridge

and 3rd March in Brisbane for BookMarked and Sexy

So yes, 2019 is going to be super busy but I am really excited! I think this year is going to be awesome!!  I will also have a new website soon, but I will keep you posted! (this blog and my Good Morning Monday posts won’t change)

Okay folks, I will see you in the new year!!!  Until then! <3

  • Good Morning Monday, and a Merry Christmas Eve!

I know I say this every year, but damn, it just goes by so fast. I swear it just March or April last week LOL   But apparently it is Christmas Eve, and I have houseful of guests, a fridge full of food, and a dent in my credit card to prove it. Also, our Chinese food delivery guy was wearing a Santa suit, so I’m guessing it’s real 😉

I also spent yesterday afternoon/evening at the emergency dentist, which was not fun. One emergency root canal, an aching jaw, and a swollen face later… But I’m feeling better today, thankfully. I have to go back next week to get a more permanent fix, so no yays there, let me tell you. I mean who in their right mind looks forward going to the dentist knowing you’re in for needles and whatnot. Blah.

    Anyway, onwards and upwards.

I’ve also given my next release a date!  Cronin’s Key IV – Kennard’s Story will be out January 28th!  All things going well, that is. If anything, it might get pushed back a week, but I am aiming for January 🙂

If you follow me on social media, you would have seen this…

I’ll be releasing the cover soon!! Made by the awesome SJ York, it’s a perfect addition to the Cronin series.

My WIP update:  I’m at 28K words. I’d hoped for more words this week but with kids off school, Christmas preparations, dentist appointments, and other real life crap, it just wasn’t meant to be.

Still no title, but these guys are adorable. I’m hoping to have some kissing this next week, maybe… unless Jordan’s awkwardness and babbling gets in the way LOL

But these boys are a joy to write and I can’t wait to share more about them!

And in some great news, A Soldier’s Wish was voted Book of the Week at LoveBytes Book Reviews!!!

You can check out the review HERE!

Lastly, I would like to wish everyone a Happy Holidays!! Thank you all for being with me throughout 2018, and I wish everyone a happy and healthy 2019.  My job as an author is a dream for me, and a responsibility I take seriously. Please know you’re the reason I write, and I couldn’t do this without you!

Due to request, I’ve also added my 2019 Calendars to my Signed Paperback Form. They’re $8.00 each, and a shipping guide is:

Australia: $2.50 and Overseas $8.00.  These are AUD figures, so this equates to $11.50US for calendar and shipping combined.

Calendar laying flat on top of other calendars

In other news, I’ll be sending Kennard’s Story off to my editor this week! I’m still hopeful for an early February release, but that is subject to a whole bunch of things.

And I’m 10K into my next story which is SO much fun right now. It’s still untitled and I’m reluctant to say much more should I jinx myself LOL.  I have NO clue how long it will be. One MC is a nervous rambler (a bit like Henry from The Weight Of It All)  so the finished word count will depend on how much stage time this guy can steal 😉

I’m still working on my 2019 schedule. I can say roughly I’d like to release 6 novels (one every two months) but that depends on a myriad of factors (planets aligning, wind direction, kids’ school and sporting commitments, and other real life factors, that kind of thing) but I’m hoping to get/give some vague direction of where I’m heading. I always say that schedules help me focus and choose my path, but in all honesty, it’s usually shot to shit by February LOL

    Okay folks, until next week!!

  • Good Morning Monday! A Cover Reveal, A Deadline, and a Chest Infection

Sounds exciting, doesn’t it? Well, minus the chest/lung infection, that is. It’s not that bad… I only cough every time I breathe. 😉  My doc gave me some antibiotics and told me to rest (obviously doesn’t know that rest doesn’t apply to a working mum LOL)  Though I am trying to take it easy/easier. This infection has also brought on a spike of chronic fatigue which is a double whammy. Basically I’m too tired to get better. LOL  Fingers crossed I see an improvement this week. I’m leaving on Friday for a four day trip to Brisbane with my daughter, my sister, and my niece. Which would have been fab if I wasn’t hacking up a lung every other minute. I’m sure I’ll be feeling better by then…

    My next release!

Anywhooooo, I mentioned a cover reveal!! Woo hoooo! I love doing these. It is for my Christmas story, called A Soldier’s Wish. But the big reveal isn’t here today. The big reveal is happening on My Fiction Nook   on the 5th November. I know it’s technically the 5th of November here in Australia but we know all dates and timezones for these things are set default to the US.  So you’ll have to wait a day. This is part of the Christmas Angel anthology – seven authors, seven different stories involving one Christmas Angel ornament that gets handed down throughout history.

    The Christmas Angel Series

In 1750, a master woodcarver poured all his unrequited love, passion, and longing into his masterpiece—a gorgeous Christmas angel for his beloved’s tree. When the man he loved tossed the angel away without a second thought, a miracle happened. The angel was found by another who brought the woodcarver True Love.

Since then, the angel has been passed down, sold, lost and found, but its magic remains. Read the romances inspired by (and perhaps nudged along by) the Christmas Angel through the years. Whether it’s the 1700’s England (Eli Easton), 1880’s New York (Kim Fielding), the turn-of-the-century (Jordan L. Hawk), post World War II (L.A. Witt), Vietnam-era (N.R. Walker), the 1990’s (Anyta Sunday), or 2018 (RJ Scott), the Christmas Angel has a way of landing on the trees of lonely men who need its blessing for a very Merry Christmas and forever HEA.

    The Magician’s Angel (Book #3) – Jordan L. Hawk

Christmas Homecoming (Book #4) – Lori Gallagher Witt

    A Soldier’s Wish (Book #5) – N.r. Walker

Shrewd Angel (Book #6) – Anyta Sunday

Christmas Prince (Book #7) – Rj Scott
    https://www.goodreads.com/bo…/show/41718495-christmas-prince

The books can be read in any order. They are all completely standalones. They are only tied together with a common theme. You can read one, or all seven. And you know you want to read all seven, right???  😉

Mine is set in Woodstock and Vietnam. Gary and Richard are two characters I simply adored writing. This is my first ever full length standalone Christmas story. Christmas is not really something I get into much (bahumbug, and all that) and I did worry that this wasn’t very Christmassy, but my pre-readers said it passed the Christmas test.  The book will be released on December 2nd and will go straight into KU. It is 55,000 words long and follows these boys from when they meet going to Woodstock and the two years that follow.

I hope everyone enjoys reading their story as much as I did writing it! <3

    Nova

Nova Praetorian has been out a week now and the feedback I’ve had has been really positive. Thank you to everyone who has read and reviewed this book. I know historicals aren’t for everyone – I knew that before I wrote it. But I wouldn’t change a thing. Quintus and Kaeso remain one of my favourite couples I’ve ever written, and I’m very proud of this book.

    My WIP update:

I’m currently 22K words into my newest venture. If you were at GRL or saw a few clues on social media, my current WIP is Kennard’s story from my Cronin’s Key series.  Yes, Kennard and Stas are getting their story! It’s only going to be shorter (under 30K words) but there’s crazy adventures abound, because as well know, history is never what it seems! 😉

And I can honestly say I have NO clue what’s going to happen is this book. I never plan anything and this is one crazy ride. I’m just as keen to see where it all goes as anyone else! LOL I really want to finish it this week. As I mentioned, I’m going away on Friday for 4-5 days and I’d love to get the first draft finished before I leave. Not sure how possible that is considering every time I add a chapter, something crazier happens. Let me just say, that Eiji is in his element here. The weirder it is, the more he loves it. <3

Okay folks, that’s it for this week. I’ll be away next Monday so there might not be a post next week. Don’t miss me too much 😉

    Until then…

    <3

  • Good Morning Monday! All The New Releases!

Within a week, I will have had THREE releases!

    • Yanni’s Story (Aug 29th)
    • Cronin’s Key III on audio (Sept 5th)
    • Elements of Retrofit re-release! (Sept 6th)

    Crazy, right? Busy too! LOL

First of all, Yanni’s Story made its way out into the world and I couldn’t be prouder! I’ve had some wonderful, heartfelt feedback who thanked me for giving them a voice. It breaks my heart that anyone has lived through (and thankfully survived) what Yanni went through. For many people, Yanni’s Story wasn’t fiction, and I’ll be forever grateful to the readers who contacted me to share their stories with me. If anyone were to ask me why I write, my answer is this: so people have something to identify with. And if my words can shed a little bit of light on one person’s darkness, then everything I’ve done thus far has been worth it.  <3

Next up is Cronin’s Key III on Audio!

The third and final instalment of Alec and Cronin’s epic adventure is out on audio September 5th!

Listen as Joel Leslie brings every character to life. The poor guy had six nationalities, as well different ages, different sexes, in ONE conversation, and pulled it off flawlessly!

You can find it at Audible

And last but not least, the re-release of Elements of Retrofit!!  I am SO excited to be getting the rights back to my books with their current publisher. Things you need to know…

    • The current (old) version will disappear from sites on Sept 6th
    • I will upload the new version on Sept 7th.
    • The new version has been re-edited.
    • There is no new content.
    • It will be exclusive to Amazon KU.
    • The paperback will be available the same day!
    • Each of the Thomas Elkin books will be released as separate paperbacks.
    • I get the rights back to Clarity of Lines in December, and Sense of Place in Feb.
    • The current trilogy paperback will be unavailable from Monday.
    • Check out the amazing new cover Reese Dante made for me!!

I will post the buy links when the new version goes live!

In other news, my WIP is at 33K. It’s titled On Davis Row, and I need to get it finished before school breaks up in three weeks. If I can manage 10K words a week, I should be able to do it 🙂 Failing any RL hiccups or roadblocks, that is. I’ll be aiming for a November release.

    Until next week! <3

  • Good Morning Monday! 2017 is half over already?

I cannot believe how fast this year is going! It feels like I’m doing these Monday posts every second day! 😉

So, what’s been happening this week? Doctor appointments, kids’ sport (oh, and school lol) and writing! I somehow managed to write 12K this week!

A quick WIP update is that Yanni’s Story is now at 62k words and I’m very pleased to announce that Yanni and Peter have kissed! Once! LOL  I’m truly thinking this will be a 90k-100k story. My longest story ever is 92k and I do think this will exceed that. 🙂

I might even share the cover soon! I’m hesitant to share it in case I jinx myself LOL. I’d hate to share it, have people get excited, then to get writer’s block or something… but I really love the cover and can’t wait to share it!

    Paperback news!

I got creative with some paperbacks and want to explain a few things…

Red Dirt Heart Imago is only 18k words long, so to beef it up for paperback, I added the Red Dirt Christmas story as a bonus to the back.

But, because I love the Red Dirt Christmas cover so much, and a lot of readers told me they do too, I decided to put it in paperback with Red Dirt Heart Imago as the bonus story at the back.

Excuse the terrible photography LOL but I hope the pics make it clear as what you can expect in each book. Both books have 138 pages and should retail for $7USD. They have been approved through Createspace and should be available at Amazon very soon!  I was hoping to have the link for this post, but it wasn’t to be. I will update asap!

    Audio news!

I’m thrilled to say Cronin’s Key has been sitting at #1 in the LGBT Audio spot for a week!!!

Joel’s narration is incredible, and the reviews have reflected this! I’m so excited to announce that he has just started on Cronin’s Key II 🙂

I’ve never considered audio when writing, and I’d have loved to be a fly on the wall when I told Joel he had a dozen different accents to master LOL But he nailed each and every one!  I can’t wait to see what he does with CKII.  And Red Dirt Heart 3 soon after!

That’s it for this week! I won’t be posting next week as I’ll be away. Be safe, be kind.  <3
