Red Dirt Heart, Book of the Month!
Red Dirt Heart has been voted BOOK OF THE MONTH on Boy’s in our Books review blog!!! You can check out the deets here:
http://boysinourbooks.com/2014/03/07/februarys-pimp-my-read-winner-is/
It’s very exciting for me, and awesome and humbling and exciting and awesome!
Seriously, this was me
And when I think about the incredible people who read and reviewed and voted for these boys
And in other exciting and awesome news…
I have contracted Blind Faith, Through These Eyes and Blindside to be translated into Italian and French!! Carter and Isaac, Mark and Will are off to share the love in different languages
I will post more about release dates when I have them, but both are expected to release at approximately the same time, which I’m hoping will be in about six months 🙂
And, although it’s very very very early stages, there could also be a release of Red Dirt Heart as an Audiobook. One day. Maybe. Will post more when I know more.
In WIP news, writing of the sequel to Red Dirt Heart is slow going. Real life is a priority right now, so I really have no clue for any kind of release date.
In more news, Taxes and TARDIS will be out on Amazon on March 21st, and that is the same day you can get the re-released version of Three’s Company from Totally Bound. I will post buy-links when I have them…
And that’s all from me on the writing news front for a little while. 🙂 Thanks again to all my fabulous readers for giving me the warm and fuzzies. Please have another dreamy, swoony Jeremy Renner gif to brighten your day

Desiree Holt guest post & a $10 giftcard giveaway!
Stacy Halligan has spent her adult life focusing on her career, choosing men with far less care than she does her professional path. That’s probably the reason all of her relationships end in disaster. Now she’s senior editor of the magazine where she works and she was so sure this latest hunk would be the one. When he dumps her, just before Valentine’s Day, who does she complain to, as always, but her next door neighbor and friend, backup quarterback Max Sullivan. She sees Max as her best friend. Comfortable. Easy to be with.
Max doesn’t mind hanging out with Stacy but in the three years they’ve lived next door to each other he’s hoped for a lot more. Now he sees his opening. When he offers to put on a blitz leading up to Valentine’s Day to make the guy jealous, he has an ulterior motive. He wants to show her he’s the one she should pick, because he wants Stacy for himself. His campaign includes, chocolate, flowers, little gifts and hopefully, really hot sex. Because he’d been dying forever to get her into his bed and keep her there.
Will this work? He only has until Valentine’s Day to find out.

EXCERPT:
“Knock knock.”
Kurt lounged in her doorway, jacketless, sleeves rolled up, a big grin on his face. Butterflies danced a jitterbug in her stomach as she remembered the last time they’d been naked together.
“Rumor has it you’re the new queen of chocolates.” He chuckled.
She saved her document and turned to face him. “And they are delicious.”
“I’m sorry I didn’t think of sending them myself.” His gaze raked over her as if his eyes were undressing her. “New outfit? I like it. Very sexy.”
Oh, my God. Men are so predictable. Max called it. How interesting what a flirty outfit and a mysterious admirer could do to a situation. If she’d shown up in her usual slacks and sweater, without the secret admirer, would he even have known she came to work?
“Thanks.” She gestured at the box. “Have some candy, why don’t you?”
“Won’t your ‘secret admirer’ object to you giving them to another guy?” He used his fingers to gesture air quotes.
“Why?” She deliberately plucked a chocolate from where it nestled in the box and popped it into her mouth. “Is there some reason he should be jealous?”
Kurt unkinked himself from the doorjamb and ambled over to her desk. “There might be. Who is this guy, anyway? How come no one has ever met him? And where was he when you and I were doing the horizontal tango?”
“He was there all the time,” a deep voice boomed from behind him.
Kurt’s head whipped around.
Max appeared behind Kurt, a fake smile plastered on his face although a touch of anger flashed in his eyes. “Stacy and I had a little misunderstanding. No biggie. It’s all patched up now. Anyway, she won’t be doing the tango with anyone else anymore. Her dance card is filled.”
Deedee stood in the doorway, eyes wide, face flushed with excitement. “Sorry, Stacy. He said you were expecting him and just breezed on past me.”
“No problem. He’s right. Go on back to your desk.”
Deedee was a statue in the doorway, eying Max like he was a piece of candy in that box.
“Go on, Deedee,” Stacy repeated.
Kurt narrowed his eyes. “Wait, you’re Max Sullivan, right?”
Max put on his professional smile—the one he used when local news interviewed him after a triumph on the field.
“Yes. And you would be?”
“Kurt Macallister.” He reached out a hand. “I never miss a Warriors game. ESPN is still replaying that video of the Hail Mary pass you threw in the game against the Patriots.”
“Yeah, my fifteen minutes of fame,” he joked.
Stacy watched the two men in her tiny office space and smiled to herself. She could almost hear Kurt’s brain burning as he tried to figure out what she was doing with Max Sullivan. Max, on the other hand, behaved pleasant but aloof and looked as if he wished Kurt would get out of there already.
Winking at Stacy, he walked around the other man, lifted her from her chair, and pulled her in tight to his chest. Then, without further warning, he brought his lips down on hers in a kiss that curled her toes and sent moisture flooding her panties. His body was hard against hers. All of him was hard including his rock-hard penis imprinting itself on her flesh through her flirty little skirt.
If he gave a performance, it was a damn good one. So good her wits scattered like leaves in a breeze.
“Well.” Vaguely, Stacy heard someone clearing his throat. “Apparently this isn’t a good time to chat with you.”
She opened her eyes and glanced over Max’s shoulder. Kurt still stood in front of her desk, hands in his pockets, irritation and maybe jealousy lining his face.
Max lifted his mouth from hers. “Yeah, that’s right. Stacy’s leaving for lunch and won’t be back for a while.” He turned his face to Stacy, still holding her close to him. “You ready, sugar?”
Stacy’s mind spun. She barely heard whatever comeback Kurt made, too busy staring at Max through lust-clouded eyes. Lordy, the man was gorgeous. Clad in black slacks and a black V-neck sweater, with a smidgen of sexy chest hair peeking over the ribbing, his outfit practically matched his hair, and the blue in his eyes appeared deeper than ever. He topped it all with an elegant camel colored sport jacket and a smile that came straight from the devil himself.
“Get your purse, Stacy,” he told her. “Time to go.”
“Um,” was all she could manage.
Max took a step back, his sensuous mouth crooked up in a smile. Sensuous mouth? When had she put those two words and Max together?
“Stacy? You ready, sweetheart?” His warm voice wrapped itself around her like an erotic blanket.
“Uh, yes. Let me get my purse.”
Pulling her scrambled brains together, she managed to retrieve her bag from her desk drawer without dropping it.
“She may be late getting back,” he told a dumbfounded Deedee as they sailed into the hallway.

Jay Northcote Guest Blog!
Jay Northcote is a friend of mine and I love having her here on my blog! Today I’m asking her some personal questions, and asking about her AWESOME new release Not Just Friends. 🙂 Soooo, questions first…
Describe yourself in three words:
Impatient, temperamental, passionate
Your guiltiest pleasure:
I don’t tend to feel guilty about anything pleasurable *grin* but I guess maybe the days where I just give myself time off to just sit on the sofa and read instead of working on my own projects or business. That feels bad in a really good way.
What’s your earliest memory ?
I remember being in a cot, so I must have been really young—maybe not much over a year old. I think it was early in the morning and nobody else in the house was awake but it was light so it must have been summer. I was standing up against the rails of the cot and I had a rag doll in my hands. I was pulling out the white strands of her woollen hair and dropping them on the carpet. I just have a very clear visual memory of the white pieces of wool against a dark red carpet. I have no idea why that was significant for me but the memory stuck.
Favourite celebrity crush:
Oh that’s difficult to pick just one. I have a lot of celebrity crushes. But I guess maybe my current favourite is Colby Keller. I do love an intelligent man and Colby is so articulate and interesting in interviews and his blog posts, as well as being smoking hot… obviously. He also doesn’t seem to have a huge ego which is refreshing, and adds to his attractiveness.
Favourite thing about being British:
Marmite – I bloody love the stuff.
Favourite curse word, and why:
Arse!
Because it’s beautifully British, and also not so rude that I feel bad about saying it in front of my kids.
The book you wish you’d written:
The Hunger Games. It was a great concept and I think she did a wonderful job with it, plus all the millions of sales would be a bonus of course *grin*. I didn’t enjoy the rest of the trilogy so much but the first book really was a great read.
Introduce us to the main characters of your newest release:
Not Just Friends is about two guys who meet when they leave home to go to university and end up living in the same student flat.
Lewis is fairly quiet and self-contained. He’s not super shy but is cautious in his dealings with others. At the start of the story Lewis still thinks he’s straight—he had a girlfriend all through sixth form at school and was happy to fit in and be what everyone expected him to be, so when his unexpected feelings for Max take him by surprise.
Max is very different to Lewis. He’s open about his sexuality and doesn’t take any shit from people. He’s also quite snarky and funny, but there is a vulnerability to him too although he hides it pretty well most of the time. I adored Max, he’s one of my favourite characters so far.
Leaving home to go to university is an exciting phase in anyone’s life. One that’s full of new places, new friends, and new experiences. But Lewis is not prepared for the sudden and intense crush he develops on his out-and-proud flatmate, Max—given that Lewis had always assumed he was straight. Max starts dating another guy, and Lewis’s jealousy at seeing them together forces him to confront his growing attraction.
When Max’s relationship goes awry, Lewis is the one to comfort him and one thing leads to another. But after a night together, Lewis is devastated that Max wants to go back to being just friends. Lewis tries his best to move on and their friendship survives, but the feelings he has for Max don’t go away. He faces other challenges as he deals with coming out to his parents, and needs Max’s support more than ever. But Lewis isn’t the only one who’s conflicted. When Max finally admits he cares for Lewis too, Lewis must decide whether he dares risk his heart again on being more than just friends.
Not Just Friends is available at Dreamspinner Press

Who is Jay Northcote:
Jay lives just outside Bristol in the West of England, with her amazing, occasionally ridiculous husband, two noisy-but-awesome children, and two cats.
She comes from a family of writers, but she always used to believe that the gene for fiction writing had passed her by. She spent years only ever writing emails, articles, or website content. One day, she decided to try and write a short story–just to see if she could–and found it rather addictive. She hasn’t stopped writing since.

Taxes and TARDIS re-release is here!!
Brent and Logan live again!!
It’s been a long twelve months waiting for this story to be given a new life, a new home. Taxes and TARDIS was the first book I ever had published and it broke my heart to have it removed from sale.
So I’m very excited to have it available again.
From today, Taxes and TARDIS is available for purchase from Totally Bound!
It has a bright and shiny new cover and has been re-edited and tidied up, but the story is essentially the same as it was when first released. It was first released with a word count of approx. 25K, and it remains at approx. 25K words. It was only ever intended to be a short, sweet, smut-filled geek-fest.
This story won’t change your life, but it will make you smile.
BLURB:
Brent is a jock, Logan a geek, these men are a world apart. But if opposites attract, maybe it’s the differences between them that make it worth the fight.
Brent Kelly is a laid-back tradesman whose only concerns are drinks with friends and which man to bed next. In need of a new accountant to sort out his nightmarish shoebox of tax receipts, he’s referred to Logan Willis.
He doesn’t expect to be intrigued by the science fiction-loving, geeky guy with dark-rimmed glasses and a TARDIS blue shirt. So his fascination with the soft-spoken Englishman surprises him, and their mutual attraction is completely unexpected. He most certainly never expects to fall in love.
One a jock and the other a geek, both men know the differences between them are vast and could cause problems. But in this opposites-attract erotic drama, maybe it’s the differences between them that make staying together worth the fight.
WHERE CAN YOU BUY IT??
Taxes and TARDIS is only available at the Totally Bound site until March 21st when it will be available at third party sites.
The buy link is https://www.totallybound.com/taxes-and-tardis

Annabelle Jacobs and Capture!
Welcome Annabelle Jacobs!
Annabelle’s my guest post author today, talking about her new release Capture, and the men and dragon pic inspirations…
Eye of the beholder…
When I read a book, I have an image in my head of how I want the characters to look. It’s the same for when I write. Except when I plan a story, I like to have actual pictures of how I see my characters, or as close I can find anyway. I find it easier to get into their heads that way.
I know that people who read my books might not necessarily picture them the way I do, and that’s part of the fun. Here’s how I see the characters for Capture, my latest release:
Ryneq – King of Torsere
He’s the ruler of his people, so I wanted him to be strong, and commanding. But he was also thrust into leadership unexpectedly and is still young, so needs to have a slight air of vulnerability underneath it all. I imagined him tall, with dark hair and eyes, and this was the almost the perfect picture to encompass everything.
Nykin – dragon rider in the King’s army
Nykin, is young and doesn’t always think about the consequences of his actions. I picture him as being strong, but not heavily built. Lithe. He’s outside all the time, so I wanted him to have a healthy colour, and as dragon riders have long hair by tradition, I thought this photo was ideal. Just imagine him in black leather and boots instead of jeans.

Nykin’s dragon, Fimor, is almost like a main character, since he features heavily throughout the whole series. He is opinionated, but funny, and would do anything to keep Nykin safe. When I think of him, I imagine a huge red dragon, fearsome to look at but also beautiful. Kind of like this…

But the dragon on the cover of my book is just perfect. Paul Richmond did a fantastic job, and I was beyond thrilled when I saw it.
Capture, is the first book in the Torsere trilogy. Book two should be released in April, and book three hopefully later in the year.

Blurb
Over two hundred years ago, when dragons were hunted for their blood, the King of Torsere offered them sanctuary. In return, the dragons bestowed a magical gift on the King’s people, allowing those born with the mark to become dragon riders and forge a mental connection between dragon and rider.
King Ryneq of Torsere is undeniably attracted to Nykin, a young dragon rider. Ryneq’s sister, Cerylea, encourages him to pursue the relationship. But with the stresses of ruling Torsere, a romantic attachment is low on Ryneq’s list of priorities. Nykin admires the king from afar, but wants more than to warm his bed for a night or two.
Torsere remains under threat from the lowland armies of Rodeth and Athisi. To protect their kingdom, Ryneq and Cerylea intend to form an alliance with the elves through Cerylea’s marriage to elf prince Morkryn. On the road to the wedding, the lowland army attacks the party. Cerylea escapes, but Ryneq is captured and taken to the impenetrable Risvery Castle. In the aftermath, Nykin volunteers for a perilous mission, endangering the lives of him and his dragon. The odds are against him, but Nykin will risk everything for his duty and his king.

HK Carlton guest post!
When I set out to write my first ménage story, Streetlight People it was a challenge that I issued to myself. I wanted to know if I could. I was a fairly new writer, I still am really but at the time, I was just fumbling around trying to find my way. But I love being an author and telling stories and I’ve found I like to test myself. I think it’s the only thing that I’ve ever been adventurous about. I want to try everything. And now I find I’m just a big-time genre hopper.
I tried my hand at historical romance, which I love as a reader and thought it was the genre that I was destined to write. But inspiration, my muse, fate, whatever you want to call it, had other plans and erotic romance tales just waiting to be told. However, I had to adopt a whole new way of thinking and a drastic new vocabulary. My kids are mortified by some of the things that come out of my mouth nowadays. But once I started learning; a plethora of sub-genres opened up to me. So far, I’ve penned and published (erotic) contemporary, time-travel, m/m, a couple of mild bondage stories and the aforementioned ménage. Which brought me to something else that I hadn’t attempted before and that’s a sequel. Streetlight People was a stand alone novel, until a friend of mine and fellow Totally Bound author Donna Gallagher The League of Love Series, suggested—after reading SLP—that there needed to be another book. The minute she put that idea out there, I knew that she was right. Toni required her own story. But could I do it?
The excitement of starting a new story is always thrilling; but I wasn’t sure where to start this one or to continue it, as it were? The best place, I assumed was to begin at the end—of the last story, that is.
After participating in a threesome with her boyfriend, and a female schoolmate, Antoinette Oakes finds herself alone…
But what brought her to that point? Where did she come from? Hmmm, and a back-story began to form.
Toni; from small town intolerant nowhere, back when everyone called her Annie.
Long before the memorable ménage à trios with Street and Andi (from the first book Streetlight People), there was Griffin and Avery.
And a new story began to take shape…
Blurb:
Single white female seeks perfect couple…
After participating in a threesome with her boyfriend and a female schoolmate, Antoinette Oakes finds herself alone. But Toni is less upset by the loss of her boyfriend than she is by the realisation that her idea of the perfect relationship requires two people. A man and a woman.
The week before graduation, in the midst of setting up job interviews and apartment hunting in New York, Toni is summoned back home to Manchester, Georgia—a place she swore she’d never return to—and to a father she has no desire to see. The last thing Toni expects is to rekindle old feelings for her high school beau, Griffin, let alone reawaken a past infatuation with her former best girlfriend, Avery, with whom she once shared a passionate kiss and a little bit more.
But keeping her eye on the ultimate prize, Toni is determined to move to New York, where the impossible dream of finding that perfect couple just might be possible. Something the small town intolerant community she grew up in would never understand. Toni wants the best of both worlds and will settle for nothing less, even if that means leaving Griffin and Avery behind, for a second time.
Reader Advisory: This book contains references to f/f intimacy.
Excerpt:
All of a sudden, Avery pulled away, her gaze darting wildly. “We have to stop this!”
“Why?” I asked, remembering Griff saying the same thing.
“Why? Because it’s wrong.”
“How is it wrong, Avery? If I can make you feel good and you can do the same for me, how can that be wrong? You have to know how much I care about you and I think maybe you feel somewhat the same. It’s not bad, what we feel.
But I don’t want you to do anything you don’t want to. And there are things I want to do to you. I think you should go home.”
Her expression fell, but she nodded slowly in agreement and reached for the car door handle. Her hand shook, and after a slight hesitation, she grabbed it with authority, got in then slammed the door. Without even another glance in my direction, she started the engine and backed down the pathway.
“Fuck!” I kicked at a pebble in the dirt.
What I truly wanted was for Avery to admit the truth, to herself and to me. That deep down, no matter how reprehensible she’d been brainwashed into believing same sex relationships were, it was exactly what she needed. At the very least she deserved the chance to explore it. I knew what it was like to want something so desperately, something that you presumed you could never have. But I suppose in a way, it was also easier for me, because I didn’t believe these kinds of relationship were wrong to begin with. It was finding one that was holding me up.
Not ready to go back inside to spend the rest of my night alone in that big old house, I was about to enter the tackle shed when the car came charging back up the laneway.
It jerked to a stop and Avery stepped out and stalked me with purpose, a determined look on her pretty face. She pushed me into the dimly lit shack and up against the inside wall Then she kissed me. It wasn’t some puny little peck either—she went at me with intent. Our tongues tangled and my pussy twinged with need.
Breathing hard in between kisses she said, “Your father called my parents the last time. They made me stay away from you. They made me feel dirty. And coming to see you at school? Well, they never would have agreed to it.”
“Why didn’t you tell me?” I quizzed her, coming up for air.
She shrugged. “I was embarrassed by the whole thing.”
“What are you feeling now?”
“Everything!”
To my delight and surprise she circled my nipple just as I’d done to her the past night, on the porch. Leaning into her touch, I encouraged her to continue to experiment and explore. I would gladly be her test subject. She was timid at first but her touch grew steadier as her confidence grew.
At that moment, I heard footsteps in the gravel outside. Even in the dimly lit shed, it would be obvious what we were doing. I tensed at first then remembered it couldn’t be my father—he was still on crutches. I’d lay money that it was Griff. The shadow moved and I saw the unmistakable brim of his ever-present beat-up old John Deere Tractor hat. I’d hoped he’d drop by tonight looking for seconds. If it were him, could Avery and I tempt him into joining us? I wondered, perhaps deviously. If he watched us together, would he be so overwhelmed by lust that he’d fulfill my fantasy of having a threesome with my two teenage loves? On the other hand, Avery might run at being caught like this. She was timid enough just being with me—adding another, Griff of all people, might just unhinge her.
“Touch me,” Avery demanded, breathless, taking my attention back.
I cupped her nice round behind and pulled her against me, grinding my mound against hers. The hard pressure there felt unbelievable.
I released her and turned her ever so slightly so that the light would shine between us and give Griff a good view of everything we were about to do to each other.

Eighteen-year-old Scott Keating knows a whole world exists beyond his parents’ strict control, but until he gains access to the World Wide Web, he really has no idea what’s out there. In a chat room, Scott meets “JeffUK.” Jeff loves and understands him, and when he offers to bring Scott to the UK, Scott seizes his chance to escape his humdrum life and see the world. But when his plane touches down and Jeff isn’t there, panic sets in.Collars & Cuffs favorite barman and Dom-in-training, Ben Winters, drops his sister off at the airport and finds a lost, anxious Scott. Hearing Scott’s story sets off alarm bells, along with his protective instincts. Taking pity on the naïve boy, Ben offers him a place to crash and invites him to Collars & Cuffs, hoping his bosses will know how to help. Scott dreams of belonging to someone, heart and soul. Ben longs for a sub of his own. And neither man sees what’s right under his nose.EXCERPT:
Scott“Hands and knees, boy.”I obeyed him, doing my best to move smoothly and gracefully, just like he’d taught me. I tensed when his hand spread my cheeks and he pushed a couple of slick fingers into me. I squirmed as his fingers scissored inside me, stretching me. When Ben pulled his fingers free, I stifled my noises of disappointment. Ben held up something for me to see. It was a slim butt plug in black silicone. I swallowed.I tried to relax as he pushed it slowly into me. “God, it feels so big.”Ben chuckled. “This is nothing, wait until it’s my cock.” And didn’t that thought send a ripple through me. At last I felt the flat base of the plug and knew it was all the way in.“Stand up.”I got to my feet, the movement pushing the plug against my prostate. Oh, hell. I couldn’t see me lasting long without coming—until I saw what Ben held in his hand. It was a cage of some sort, its shape mimicking a dick. I gasped as Ben pushed a metal ring over my cock and eased my balls through it carefully. The ring had a catch where it rested on top of my dick. Then he slid a lubed hand over my length. I shuddered to finally feel his hand on me, but it was short-lived as he proceeded to slide the cage very slowly over my cock, until at last it snapped into position on the cock ring.“Sir?Ben grinned. “Subs who behave the way you did have to expect punishment.”I gulped. All in all, I thought I’d got off lightly, except Ben wasn’t finished.“On your knees.”I obeyed him, conscious of the plug in my ass and the weight of the cage around my cock. I wondered what was coming next, and my mouth fell open when Ben unzipped his fly and pushed his jeans down over his hips. Ben cupped my chin and lifted my face to look at him.“Suck my cock, boy. And make it good.”Oh… oh, wow.BenGod, I was hard.Scott knelt before me. Smiling up at me, he pulled my underwear down slowly, releasing the solid cock hidden inside. It sprang up, heavy and thick, bouncing in his face. Scott’s eyes moved to mine. I nodded toward my cock.“Sir? May I?” Scott lowered his eyes reverently. I placed my hands atop Scott’s head.“Do it, boy,” I whispered. Scott reached for the thick shaft in front of him. “No hands.” My voice was thick and husky.Scott nuzzled my balls before licking from the base to the head of my engorged prick.I couldn’t suppress a shudder. Scott chuckled, and I gave my boy a quick cuff on the side of his head. Grabbing Scott’s head, I pushed him down, the warm lips engulfing my prick. I moaned, the sensation of the boy’s mouth nearly overwhelming. I let him suck at his own pace for a few moments before I locked my hands around Scott’s head and started thrusting into his mouth. All too soon, my balls began to pull up.“You’re doing so well. Going to come, boy.”Scott tried to back off as I shot, but my grip held him tight. I emptied my load into his waiting mouth. When I was done, I gave the simple one-word command.“Swallow.”I smiled as Scott gulped my load, his throat working on the head of my dick, causing tremors to rock my body. After I’d finished, I released him. He leaned back and looked me in the eye, smiling, a part of my come running slowly down his chin. I wiped it off with my thumb and started drawing away, but he grabbed my hand and popped my thumb into his mouth. He released it, and his eyes dropped to the floor.“Thank you, Sir.”I couldn’t help the wide smile on my face. Now to deliver the bad news.“Now you’re going to bed. And the plug and cage stay there for the night.”I watched his eyes widen as realization sunk in. Now he got it.

2014 to the stage, please…
Well, it’s almost here. 2014, that is.
And you know what?
It can’t get here soon enough.
2013 has been a year of change. It’s been a busy-as-hell year for me. I’ve moved house, twice, built a new house, had a stressful/shitty year at my EDJ, and released eight books.
2013 has also been a not-so-great year for a lot people I know. There’s been separations, divorces, illnesses, deaths and funerals, financial troubles and stress.
But I’ve also seen some love, friendships and families made. I’ve had nominations and awards for my writing from fabulous readers. And I’ve witnessed the remarkable m/m community do some remarkable things, and really come together to support our own when in need.
And that’s what I’ll take with me, because after all, the good in people should win. Every time.
But this year, 2013, you can be done now, thanks.
I want to look forward, I want to make plans with and for my family, and I want to make 2014 the best year yet. Now, I don’t make New Year’s resolutions. I just don’t.
Resolutions, to me at least, are just an every day promise, made on a whim. Everyone aims to be healthier, to get fitter, to save money blah blah blah. To me, those are just things we should all aim to do, on a daily basis. If you want to call them a resolution, then please by all means do. Call them what you want, and if you can stick to them, and see them out in full throughout the year, then kudos. I mean that, genuinely, because I certainly can’t. Like I said this time last year, I’m too lazy for resolutions.
I just want 2014 to be… better.
That’s all. Just better. I know that sounds very Gandhi of me, but it’s true. I want people to be happy, content, safe and in good health. Oh, and world peace. You know. Just because.
So, what’s in store for me in 2014?
Books.
LOL I already have five books scheduled for release in the first five months. (Clarity of Lines, Taxes and TARDIS, Three’s Company, Starting Point and my current WIP) I know, right? I was supposed to reducing stress this year, but it’s just the way it happened. It could be five books in the first six months – it depends on my WIP. Either way, I’ll be busy. The second half of the year will be slower, and deliberately so.
So as we enter this new year, I want to say a huge thanks to everyone who’d bought, read and rated any of my books. It really means a lot to me, and I’ll continue to be humbled that anyone still reads my stuff, so a very big thank you to you all. *mwah*
And let’s make 2014 the best year yet!

Silvia Violet’s Sorting Out – And a giveaway!
I’m stoked to have Silvia Violet on my blog today!! Check out the AWESOME cover to her new release, Sorting Out.
Be sure to leave a comment for a chance to win your choice of a book from my backlist!
When I starting writing Fitting In, I didn’t have plans for it to have a sequel, but as the story progressed, I realized there would still be lots of questions left open at the end—would Jack and Gray come out at work? How would they manage a threeway relationship in the long term? Would Mason get his degree? I’d already considered writing another book focused on these three men when I started getting questions about it from readers. Once I’d heard several pleas for more, I was completely sold.
Fitting In is told from Mason’s POV and when I started work on Sorting Out I wasn’t sure if I wanted Mason to tell the story again or for Jack or Gray to have a turn. Initially I thought this story would be in Gray’s perspective, but quickly it became obvious that this was Jack’s story. Through Jack’s POV we get to see how he comes to terms with moving on to a new stage in their relationship and in his work life. It’s time to let the world know about them and for Jack and Gray to take a new step in their careers, but Jack is scared and frustrated and he has a lot to work through. I enjoyed hearing his voice and being able to let him speak and share his turmoil.
As soon as I got the book to beta readers, I started getting the question of whether this threesome would get a third book from Gray’s POV. I have definite plans for at least one secondary character in Sorting Out and possibly for another one as well. The chances that Gray will get to share his inner voice with everyone are good, but my plans for that are still amorphous.
Now for a taste from Sorting Out…
Blurb:
Jack, Gray, and Mason have accepted that love comes in many flavors and settled into a three-way relationship. Things haven’t been easy, and now that Mason has gone back to school and Gray is interested in a detective position, Jack is feeling lonely. His lovers aren’t around very often, and he misses lying around in bed, enjoying the benefits of living with two hot men. But Jack has secrets. He’s uncomfortable every time he puts his uniform on. He’s never recovered from seeing Mason held hostage, and he’s no longer sure he was meant to be a cop.
While stressing over his own future and facing pressure from Gray and Mason to bring their relationship out of the closet, Jack is severely wounded in the line of duty. His recovery, both physical and emotional might be more than their unconventional relationship can bear. Jack is going to need all the courage and support his lovers can give him if he’s going to bring himself back from the dead and create the life he wants to live.
Excerpt:
Jack heard the door open as he pulled a pan of hot caramel popcorn from the oven. Perfect timing. Mason was home and hopefully Gray had been able to get most of his paperwork finished, so the three of them could curl up together and continue their third run through the fourteen brilliant episodes of Firefly. Why oh why had it been cancelled and how had he not known about its awesomeness until Mason came into his life?
Their schedules had kept them apart for the last few nights and Jack had been looking forward to this all day, the three of them snuggled on the couch, watching TV until they started to doze off like an old married threesome. Who would need to go out with two amazing men at home? He could happily hole up for weeks just cuddling, fucking, and cooking for them.
Mason dropped his bag on the table and came up behind him. He kissed Jack’s neck as he grabbed a handful of popcorn that he immediately threw back into the pan, yelling, “Hot!”
“Of course it’s hot. It just came out of the oven.” Laughing, Jack grabbed Mason’s hand and kissed his palm. “Is that better?”
“No, but this will fix it.” Mason kissed him, sliding his tongue along the seam of Jack’s lips until he opened for his lover, letting him get a taste. Desire rose swiftly, and he clutched at Mason’s hips, pulling him in tight, letting him feel his cock, which was now hard and needy. Maybe Captain Mal would have to wait after all.
The sound of Gray clearing his throat brought them up for air. Mason stepped back, grinning at Jack. “That was a delicious hello.” He turned toward Gray, but when Jack saw the expression on their lover’s face, he knew they weren’t getting the same kind of greeting from him. He looked serious and…scared? Jack’s stomach knotted.
“What is it?”
“I need to talk to you. I waited until Mason was home, but I… Maybe you should sit down.”
“Gray, what’s wrong?” Jack asked, the caramel he’d tasted as he coated the popcorn lying heavy in his stomach.
Mason laid a hand on his arm. “Are you okay? You’re really pale.”
Jack ignored the question. “Don’t make us wait.”
“Thornton, the lieutenant from Major Crimes that I told you about—” He glanced at Mason. “He’s been encouraging me to take the detective exam. He wants me in his unit.”
“But—”
Gray held up a hand. “Yes, it would mean we wouldn’t be partners anymore, but it would also mean we could be out if we wanted to. We’ve been talking about making a change, and you’ve known I was thinking about going for a promotion.”
“Yeah, but, I…” Nausea tightened Jack’s throat.
Mason reached for Jack’s hand and squeezed. “This could be good for all of us. Let’s think about it.”
Jack looked at Mason. He had known this would happen sooner or later. Gray was right about it being for the best, but Jack had continually pushed it to the back of his mind.
“I just want us to—” he started, but Gray interrupted him.
“I told him I’d take the exam.” Gray looked at the floor as he spoke.
“What?” Jack roared, fear replaced by anger that threatened to scorch him. “How dare you do that without talking to us!”
“I shouldn’t have, but he’d already asked me before, and I’d put him off. He told me I had to let him know today, and you said you’d support whatever I wanted so—”
“I didn’t mean for you not to even tell me. Couldn’t you have mentioned this when he asked you the first time?”
“I—” Gray ran a hand over his ruthlessly short hair. “I should have. I’m sorry, but—”
“But what?” Mason asked after Gray was silent for several seconds. Jack was glad he’d spoken up, because he wasn’t capable of saying anything nice.
Gray sighed. “I knew Jack would react just like this.”
Fuck you. “When it was still something to actually discuss instead of something dictated to me, I would have talked to you. Now that you’ve kept it from me and decided to just walk away—”
“I’m not walking away.”
Jack snarled at him. “We’re partners, Gray, and now we won’t be.”
“We’ll still be partners in the way that really counts.”
Would they? “What about Mason? Didn’t you think maybe he wanted a say in this?”
Mason glanced at Gray, and suddenly, Jack knew. “You told him, didn’t you? When Thornton first asked you, you fucking told Mason and not me.”
Gray closed his eyes and took a long, slow breath. “He told me to tell you, told me I shouldn’t wait, but I wanted to think about it. I didn’t want to upset you if I was just going to turn it down.”
“Newsflash. I’m upset.”
“Jack—”
Mason started to interject, but Jack held up his hand. “There’s no point in talking anymore. Gray’s made his decision. Thank you for actually trying to bring me into it.”
“I made up my mind to take the exam. That doesn’t mean I’ll take the position. That’s why I wanted to talk.”
Jack shook his head. “You’ve made up your mind. I can tell. If you get the job, you’ll take it.”
“I want to stop hiding,” Gray said. “But I want this to be a decision we all three make.”
“No, you just want me and Mason to agree with you,” Jack said, venom in his tone.
“That’s not true. I…fuck, Jack. I love you.”
Jack’s anger deflated, leaving him feeling wrung out and hurt. “I can’t imagine being a cop without you.”
Gray took a step toward Jack. “I’ll still be here.”
“We’ll all be together.” Mason spoke at almost the same time. He sounded scared, desperate. Fuck Gray for putting Mason in the middle like this, for going to him when they’d sworn they’d keep everything out in the open.
Like the time you talked to Mason about Gray seeming depressed, and he encouraged you to talk to Gray, but you didn’t. Is that what you mean by out in the open?
God, Jack hated that sanctimonious voice in his head.
He held up his hand, knowing he’d cave if Gray touched him. He’d let Gray have his way and forget how angry and hurt he was until it simmered long enough to explode again. “If you really wanted to discuss it, you would have talked with me the minute you started seriously considering taking the exam.”
“Would you have listened? Really listened?”
Jack wanted to scream that he would always listen to Gray, always consider what was best for his lover without being selfish. He wanted to stop being scared he couldn’t hold it together as a cop if Gray weren’t by his side, but he couldn’t make the words come.
Instead, he grabbed the pan of caramel popcorn and flung it across the kitchen, enjoying the ear-splitting clatter as the pan bounced on the tile. Then he stomped to their bedroom and slammed the door.
Seconds later, he heard the front door bang shut.
