• Good Morning Monday! Whoa, What a Week!

Boy, it’s been a crazy week. I’ve been busy, mostly off all social media, and I’ve cranked out serious daily word counts, I’ve done some edits, and I’ve been trying to get some signed books out in the post. But I can say now that my WIP is done!

Yay!!  I thought it was done on Saturday at 55K words, but when I was re-reading through the hellamess of a first draft, I realised something was missing. Like an entire chapter or two. LOL We needed to see them bond and grow more. Their emotional connection felt rushed and stupid because I hadn’t shown, on-page, enough of how they were together.

So I wrote 5K yesterday and now I’m so much happier with it. 🙂

First drafts are always a mess and in much need of work. This one was no different. And I wrote a crazy amount of words this month. Like almost 70K words, which is a LOT for me.  But this story FLEW out of my brain and out my fingers. Admittedly, there’s a lot of sex in this story. A LOT. hahaha! It could even border on erotica. Not even kidding. But there is a romance in there somewhere, and maybe a dash of plot. Maybe. LOL

I’ll share more about it when it gets a little closer, and maybe after some pre-readers tell me it’s not a steaming pile of garbage. 😉

Here’s a little pic teaser of what this story is about…

Delicious, yes?  More info soon, I promise!

First round edits of The Hate You Drink have been done! Yay!! To be honest, I was expecting huge rewrites on that one but my editor said I kinda nailed it, so go me!  It’s angsty and there’s quite a bit of psychology-speak and I needed to make sure I had it the best I could. It seriously helps when your editor used to be a trained therapist in a previous life! (seriously, love her) <3 But I always stress over making sure I get the details as right as I can…

Anyway, I’m aiming for a release of May 23rd but that could change. I’m super excited for you all to meet Erik and Monroe!

This week I’ll be tidying up my WIP, getting more of those signed paperbacks sent off, and cleaning out my office. A month of hammering my keyboard and neglecting everything else has meant my office now looks like a dump. I keep wishing little cleaning fairies would come and do it while I sleep but no such luck yet 😉

Oh, and I’ll be jotting down lots of research points and gathering a butt-tonne of facts and info ready for my next book. I’m really not sure how it’s going to go… It will be like nothing I’ve done and I’m thinking it could be a trilogy but I won’t know until I start writing it. I wanted to write it a year or two ago but it wasn’t the right time. Apparently now the MC is giving me impatient stares…  Because of course he is. 😉

Until next week! Much love and stay safe!

  • Good Morning Monday! Cover Reveal Day!

Happy Easter Monday! And the Easter bunny decided to drop off some treats for you all! Not chocolate, unfortunately, but how about a cover and a blurb for my next release?

This gorgeous cover was made by Cover Me Darling and I’m just a teeny tiny little bit (a lot) in love with it! Okay, so here it is…

    And the blurb!

    Blurb:

Erik Keston, son of the Keston Real Estate empire, knows what it takes to be successful. Despite his inherent wealth, he holds his own. He works hard, he’s grounded, he’s brilliant. He’s also secretly in love with his best friend.
Monroe Wellman lost his parents three years ago and never grieved, never recovered. Inheriting the family company and wealth means nothing, and his spiral of self-destruction is widespread and spectacular. Dubbed Sydney’s bad boy, he spends more days drunk than sober, and the only person who’s stuck by him through it all is his best mate.
But when Monroe hits rock bottom, Erik gives him an ultimatum, and his entire world comes to a grinding halt. But it’s when the haze is lifted that Monroe can truly see what he’s been searching for was never in the bottom of a bottle. It’s been by his side all along.

An 80,000-word friends to lovers story about fighting the demons within, and trusting in the love that takes its place.

“Because when all you drink is hate, that’s all there is inside you.”

Release date: Late May. And it will be exclusive to Amazon, and on Kindle Unlimited <3

And a super quick WIP update:

Currently at 36K words. It’s super sexy, a little BDSM/kink-ish, and not really like anything I’ve ever written before.  I’m thinking it should only be 50K all said and done, and I’m finalising the title and cover as we speak. I’m hoping for a July release date but that’s subject to a lot of things.

That’s it for this week guys. Oh, and if you want to be super jealous, I’ll be seeing The End Game at 8am on Wednesday 24th. I’m a huge Marvel fan and I can NOT explain how excited I am for this!!

    Until next week! <3

  • Good Morning Monday! Special Print Editions of Upside Down

I’m very excited to announce that Upside Down is getting a limited-time only, special edition covers with metallic foil on the cover! Made by Kaligraphic, an Australian company, and I’m just a little bit in love!!

I’ve only seen photos so far, and I can NOT wait to see these in real life! But check these beauties out!

I don’t have any point of sale information at the moment, only that they will sell through me, not a retailer. I will have more details as I get them. I just wanted to share my excitement with you!

It’s only the purple that is metallic, not the whole cover.

In other news, I’ll be having a cover and blurb reveal soon for my next release, but in the mean time, there’s this…

The title you might not have been waiting for!! LOL

The Hate You Drink is with my editor as I type and I’ll be looking to release around May 23rd-ish (subject to change). It’s the story of  Monroe and Erik, a recovering alcoholic and his best friend. It’s friends-to-lovers, angsty, and full of N.R. Walker goodness!  Actual cover reveal coming soon!!

Current WIP is going well. Words are flowing fast and I’m not going to say any more than that in case I jinx myself LOL.  Only that the MC’s name is Sig, he’s one sexy motherf*cker, and he’s about to have his whole world turned on its head. LOL

    Until next week!!

  • Good Morning Monday! One Manuscript Ends, Another One Begins…

I feel like I should be holding up a baby lion to the theme song THE CIIIIIRCLE OF LIFE! This writing cycle never ends. One manuscript ends, one begins, betas start, edits start, proofing starts, one releases while one goes back into edits, and it all ebbs and flows and neverrrrrrrrrr ends. LOL!!!

But I really wouldn’t have it any other way. I love what I do. Even on the shittiest days, I still have the best job in the world. 🙂

So yes, I finished my manuscript. I think I wrote something like 21k words in six days! It finished at 81K, and I’ve sent it off to a beta reader to tell me if it sucks or not because I’m thinking it might. LOL

But while it’s off my desk, I’ll be exploring new characters and a plot idea. This one will be short and sexy. I’ve wanted to write it for years, and it never eventuated into anything then wham!! They knocked on my brain and were like, ‘skooomee? We’re ready now’ even though they don’t seem to care if I’m ready or not. LOL

But it WILL be short. I’m thinking maaaaaaybe 35-40k words.

    Fingers crossed it behaves haha

So it’s just a super short post this week. I have an appointment at the dentist… (I would rather not have said appointment, but whatever LOL).

Thanks to everyone who has read and reviewed Upside Down! It was momentarily missing from Amazon US store over the weekend but it has been restored.

Oh, and the audio of Elements of Retrofit is ‘pending’ at ACX/Amazon so it should be any day now…

    Until next week!  <3

  • Autism Awareness Month! Childhood Memories, Blog Hop, and Giveaways!

Autism fact: Autism is not a disease.

It’s always a great honour for me to take part in RJ Scott’s Autism Awareness Blog Hop. And this year I took a trip down memory lane, waaaaaaay back to my childhood, and my favourite toys that I remember. I was never into anything overtly ‘girly’ (I’m still not LOL) and while my sisters would play dress-ups and cook and sew, I played with trucks, and explored the countryside with my cousins (who were all boys). We lived in a small country town, so I spent every spare minute outside, up trees, in gullies, making tree houses, and would only ever come home to eat.

I can set rabbit traps, skin rabbits, make bows and arrows from weeping willow trees, ride motorbikes, skateboards, and horses. I can’t sew, I hate cooking, and the only two dresses I own are my wedding dress and a bridesmaid dress.

But as a child, I don’t recall it ever being an issue. No one ever said (to me, anyway) that I couldn’t have something because it’s just for boys. I wasn’t bound by stereotypical gender roles. Maybe growing up in the 70s was different… I don’t know. But also as a child of the 70/80s, we didn’t have much of anything and the only time we ever received presents/gifts was on birthdays and at Christmas. It was also the only time we ever ate lollies and chips and fizzy drinks.

    Different times, indeed.

Anyway, these are the toys I remember the most.

The Tomy Tuneyville Music Train was my first Christmas present ever, and it worked for years and years. I got the Tonka Truck for my second birthday – apparently it was all I wanted. The Family Tree House belonged to me and my sisters, so I can’t claim it as mine alone but I did enjoy playing with it. And as I got a bit older, I loved Lego. I had the entire “Moon Landscape” series and I LOVED it. I would use my dad’s pool table and make an entire moon and if I needed extra villains I’d use my sister’s Strawberry Shortcake dolls and the big purple guy with the cool/evil moustache (I think his name is Purple Pieman LOL) and my moon Lego heroes would use their mineral detectors and laser tractor beams to catch him.

Good times. (LOL! But clearly, my love for science fiction started at an early age….)

I hope you’ve enjoyed my little trip down memory lane. It’s been fun!

For the giveaway, I’d like to give one lucky reader the chance to win a $5 Amazon gift card. To enter, simply comment on this post and tell me what toy you remember from your childhood.

Also, if you haven’t checked out my latest release UPSIDE DOWN yet, you can find it at Amazon

And see for yourself why everyone is loving Jordan and Hennessy’s story!

  • Good Morning Monday! April Already? How is that possible?

Yes, it’s April. I don’t know how that happened, and I don’t know why the speed of time passing always surprises me. One day, I’m making a schedule for the new year and the next thing I know, the year’s almost half over.

    Yet here we are.

This week has been crazy. I’ve been struggling to get words down in my WIP. It’s just not going as well as I’d hoped. I’m up to 64K words, but it’s nowhere near done. And to be honest, I’m not sure what I’m doing is even right. I kinda feel way out of my depth on this one, but in the words of Dory, I need to ‘just keep swimming’.

    *sigh*

In other news, my website is down temporarily. I wrote out a really long ranty post about why, but decided to delete it LOL. To make a long story short, my website is coming back to me. I’m not a control freak, this is the LAST thing I wanted or needed. I don’t have time for this. But here I am anyway. The address should remain as it was nrwalker (dot) net. Hopefully by next week’s post it will be back up.

So on a somewhat related note, and to put it quite frankly, 2019 is the year where I’m cancelling all incompetent people. I’m sick of being nice, understanding and concerned, only to be shit on.

    AUDIO NEWS

ANYWHOOOOOOO, on a much nicer note, I’ve proofed the audio to Thomas Elkin, Elements of Retrofit and OMFG IT IS PERFECT!!!!!  Nick Russo is amazing and I’m in love with this audio like holy shit it so good I can’t believe it. I’m hoping to have it go live in the next coming weeks. I can NOT wait for you guys to listen to it.
