Good Morning Monday and a Happy New Year!
My final Good Morning Monday post for 2016!! I can not believe another year is over, but let’s be honest… I don’t think anyone is too sad to see 2016 end. It’s been a trying year, and there’s been a lot of loss and upheaval, a lot of change, and a lot of uncertainty.
But there’s also been some positives as well.
Let’s do a recap, shall we?

I released six books (Spencer Cohen Book One, Two, and Three, Blood & Milk, The Weight of It All, and Switched is due out tomorrow) which is approximately 325,000 words. I also had a 20K short story in an anthology. I had five translations, re-released one novel, and released one five-book bundle. And my first ever audiobook! Which, is a combined total of over one million words I’ve had to write/edit/format/release. It’s been a crazy-busy year.
I was also lucky enough to travel around the USA for six weeks, ending my trip at GRL 2016 in Kansas City, which was amazing.
I got to meet people I’ve talked to online for years, and I got to meet readers who I’ve met through social media, and it was an absolute highlight for me.

Good Morning Monday! Twas two busy weeks before Christmas…
Two busy weeks before Christmas… OMG this year has really flown. I will do a recap on 2016 in the next couple of weeks, but for now all I will say is I’m kinda glad it’s almost over… It’s been a SUPER busy week, and the next two will be even more so. *sigh*
My kids finish school this week. Aussie kids are winding down their school year and getting ready for summer break. It’s six weeks of “Muuuum, I’m bored. What can I do?” I’m looking forward to the sleep-ins, I will admit, but not to the constant interruptions. Working from home is awesome in so many ways, except during school holidays LOL. I can foresee a lot of hours spent at the local library … And for the record, whenever my kids tell me they have nothing to do (as they put down their iPhones and step over the PS4 and XBoxOne, ignore the dog, and their bikes and sports gear) I give them housework chores to do. This usually insures two things: One, they do some housework that I’ve put off doing because I hate it. And Two, they don’t complain to me again. It’s a win/win 🙂
Okay, so for some news on the writing front…
Switched, all 74K words of it, is with my editor. I’m still shooting for a release date of Dec 27th, but this is tentative. My poor editor has been unwell, so basically Switched will release when it’s ready. I’d love for it to be before the year ends, but I can’t guarantee it.
Perfect Catch, my 20K short story which was part of the It Was Always You anthology with the other awesome M/M Daily Grind authors will also be out as a separate release in early January.
I have an awesome cover for it, made by the very talented Sara York 🙂

And finally, instead of having a break and resting my poor sore hand/wrist, I’ve dived straight into a new WIP. It was an idea that came from nowhere and it wasn’t even on my schedule to write, but the idea and the characters wouldn’t go away. So I did the only thing I can do to shut them up, and that’s to write them down. I’m only 5K words into it but I have a title and a cover already, which I’m keeping it under wraps for now. I don’t want to jinx the story – it’s flowing really well – and I feel if I do a show-and-tell too early, the characters will stop talking. All I will say, is that it’s Australian based, will be approximately 30K words long (I think) and will be fluff and smut 🙂 I envisage a release date sometime in February 🙂

Good Morning Monday – Cover Reveal!!!
Okay guys, this one will be a short and sweet post today. I’ve been super busy getting Switched finished. It’s now at 73K words and the first draft is DONE!! Wooooo hooooo!! It needs some work still, which I am aiming to tackle today and tomorrow, before I send it to pre-readers.
I’m going to shoot for a release date of December 27th, whether this happens or not will remain on how much editing it needs. I have a feeling my editor will want to strangle me with this manuscript LOL
I don’t have a blurb yet BUT I do have a cover!! And it’s gorgeous! I found the photo and knew it was my Israel (the main character). I sent it to Sara York who made it perfect. I do love it, and yes it’s dark, but the story isn’t exactly light and fluffy. I’ll post more on the story itself, and hopefully a blurb soon.

Another blog post? Wait, what?
Okay, so there’s been a change of plans.
I know I said I wouldn’t be posting here anymore and I’d be moving over to my new website. But I’m having some issues the blog aspect of my new site, so until that’s all fixed, I’ll continue to post here. I’d hate for anyone to think I’d dropped of the face of the planet or anything. 🙂
First things first, isn’t my new website pretty? 🙂 I do love it, even though I’m still finding my feet with it. LOL Those who know me, know that technology is not my friend, and neither is spare time. So learning the ins and outs will take me a while. But as I have mentioned above, I’ll be posting here on WordPress for a little while yet.
I’m also looking at taking on an online assistant. I’ve made contact with a professional author assistant company, not exclusive to the LGBT genre. I felt I needed to employ a company removed from my every day social media dealings (basically someone who is not a ‘friend’ so to speak) so if, God forbid, they don’t do as I’m paying them to do, I can fire them. Kinda sad that that is my end game, but once bitten, twice shy. But you know the saying “don’t mix business with pleasure” is a hard lesson I’ve learned a few times over the years.
So, what that means: I’m aiming to have more time to write and do the fun side of my job, and leave all the time-consuming not-fun things to someone else. Win and win, right? 🙂
Okay, so now onto my US trip. Short version: it was awesome!! Long version: it was fucking awesome!! LOL I fully intend to do a huge post with details and pics for those who are interested, but again this will come down to time. So, suffice to say, I had an amazing trip. The places we visited were beautiful, the people even more so. My favourite city was Boston, followed by Washington DC (and Toronto in Canada) though the true highlights for me were Universal Studios, and of course, GRL in Kansas City.
GRL (Gay Romance Literature) is a readers and writer meet, where everyone comes together and talks of their love for our genre. It was such a special time for me, so very removed from my every day life, that I am trying my very hardest to go back in 2017. It’ll be in Denver, and I can not wait! I will also do a post on my GRL experience and post some photos, so I can share the love I felt, and the fun I had!
Moving onto other things…
The first time in my writing career, I have nothing ready to be published. I have nothing with my editor, nothing with pre or proof readers, nothing in waiting. Nothing! And that’s a little bit scary. It was such a mad rush to get The Weight Of It All released before I left for the US, and I was so busy organising a five week travelling holiday for four people, not to mention all my GRL stuff… So, I’ve come back to a clean slate, and have dived straight into a new novel. It will be a standalone (well, the characters haven’t told me there’ll be a sequel yet lol) and it’s rather angsty – which is not really my MO. Though as we know, I write the story they tell me to write, and yeah, this guy is hurting.
The book is titled Switched. It’s the story of Israel Ingham’s discovery that he was switched at birth, and subsequently where he belongs. I’m currently 35K into it, and I think it will be around 60K all said and done. I’ve sent my cover ideas to Sara (my cover master) and I’m hoping I’ll have something to share with you all soon.
I’m actually partaking in NaNo this yea! NaNo, or NaNoWriMo, or National November Writing Month, is where writers the world over join together to encourage each other to write 50K words in the month of November. Failing a catastrophe, I should make this goal and it’s my real hopes to have Switched completed by the end of November, for a release either late December or early January.

Good Morning Monday ~ Again!
Boy these Mondays keep coming around fast! Today is the first of August which means it is now less than six weeks until we leave for the US… which I am so unbelievably not ready for. LOL
So this week has been yet another busy one. I’ve managed just 8K words on my WIP, but have had some RL issues to deal with. In light of everything, 8000 words is pretty damn good. Of course I’d like some more, but any words are good words and I’ll take them. LOL It is, however, looking more and more likely that this book will not be ready (or even finished) before I leave for the US.
I’ll still try though. It’s just that these boys are chatty, and of course there’s thing called plot and secondary character development that gets in the road every time. 😉
Some exciting news!! It was announced this week that I will be taking part of an anthology to help raise money for the fantastic organisation called One n Ten.
The M/M Daily Grind is a Facebook group, consisting of seven fabulous authors, which I am lucky to be a part of. Cardeno C, Ella Frank, Christina Lee, Felice Stevens, Lane Hayes & Riley Hart (and myself LOL) have all contributed, which is SEVEN brand new short stories to be released as an anthology, and the proceeds are going to One n Ten.
Pre-orders will go up soon, and the anthology goes live on October 4th. I am so excited about this, and I can’t wait to show of the amazing cover very soon!!
My short story is titled Perfect Catch, and its the tale of Cal and Troy. It’s a sweet friends to lovers story, and is almost 19K words long. They’re Aussie boys who like to go fishing, motorbike riding, and camping together, and they’re the only two who can’t see how perfect they are for each other. *cue the squishy feels*
I will be posting the gorgeous anthology cover asap. And each addition to the anthology will be released as a separate title by the end of the year, which I think I’ve found the cutest stock photos for that cover too. Will share as soon as I have it made <3
This week I will be writing like a crazy woman, trying to get this WIP closer to being done. I also have some family stuff that this week that will cut into my work/writing time, which means I need to be extra focused when I write. I dare say I’ll be spending a few days at the local library this week, because I tend to write more when I’m there rather than being distracted by things at home.
On a completely related note, why is it, when someone works from home, other people tend to assume they do nothing? I’m seriously half tempted to rent out an office somewhere so me being “at work” is a concept they’ll understand. *deep breaths*
Anywho, I still haven’t touched any of my accounts/taxes, so I’m only getting further and further behind on that front as well. *exhausted sigh* One day I’ll be ahead of myself, I promise. It just looks like that day won’t be any time soon LOL

Hope and gratitude
I’ve been struggling lately, with a lot of things which I won’t get into with you now, but I have to admit I’ve seriously considered putting down my pen for good. But today I wanted to share something lovely…
I received an email from a reader that restored my faith a little (or a lot) and here is a snippet of how that conversation went:
